A 32-year-old mother from Exeter who is dying from cancer of an organ lining is thought to have ingested asbestos while at school at some stage because her parents did not work in jobs where she could have been exposed to it.
Kirsty List (pictured right), a mum of a four-year-old daughter, has terminal peritoneal mesothelioma. She said: "It’s quite scary that people are still being exposed to it so much; and that things aren’t being done to protect children, to protect those who are looking after them when they’re them at school."
The Department of Education said it was investing £23bn to help ensure asbestos was managed safely.
