    A garden shed in Totnes which was used as a sauna has been completely destroyed by a garden fire which got out of control.

    Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said, external two fire crews were called to Culverdale at about 20:20 on Tuesday after they received "a large number of calls" reporting the blaze. 

    The fire set light to the shed, and spread, causing heat and smoke damage to about 10% of a neighbouring property.

    A decision on a legal challenge to Jeremy Corbyn's right to automatically stand in the Labour leadership is expected to be handed down at the High Court in London on Thursday.

    Michael Foster (pictured below) - a Labour Party donor and former general election candidate for Camborne, Redruth & Hayle in Cornwall - is contesting the party's decision to allow Mr Corbyn on to the ballot paper without having to secure nominations from 50 other MPs and MEPs.

    Labour's National Executive Committee backed Mr Corbyn automatically being on the ballot as incumbent leader by 18 to 14 votes.

    Mr Foster, has expressed concerns about "apparent manipulation" of the party's rules and lawyers for him told the court on Tuesday that Labour and Mr Corbyn made a "very problematic interpretation" of those rules. The case continues.

    Premiership side Sale Sharks has signed former Exeter Chiefs utility back Byron McGuigan on a two-year deal.

    The Namibia-born 26-year-old has also spent time with Glasgow Warriors, New Zealand side Bay of Plenty and South Africa's Border Bulldogs. McGuigan has represented Scotland Sevens and can play in a number of positions across the back line. 

    "It's a great opportunity for me as it is a club with great ambition," he told BBC Sport. "It's awesome to come here, Manchester is a lovely city so I'm excited to start."

    People living in an eco-community in Devon have been given planning permission to live there permanently after a 13-year planning battle.

    Landmatters land

    The group, the Landmatters co-operative, bought the land near Totnes in 2002 and its members have been trying to live there ever since after initially being refused retrospective planning permission. About 250 people live there.

    Originally there were strong objections to the community, where people live in dwellings such as yurts, grow their own food and generate their own power with solar panels.

    The police helicopter and RNLI lifeboats are searching for a 68-year-old man who's gone missing in the Plymouth area. 

    Devon and Cornwall Police say they're concerned for the welfare of David Saunders, who's described as being white with short white hair and a beard. 

    He may be driving a grey Skoda Octavia. People are being asked to report any sightings of Mr Saunders or his car to police.

    Getting into a particular routine was key to the success of the first ever all-female crew rowing the Atlantic from west to east, one crew member says.

    The five women on board the Rannoch Women's Challenge boat, external, Liberty, arrived in Falmouth this morning after leaving left New York for the 3,000-mile trek on 7 June.    

    Gilly Mara said: "The best way to deal with it was to take every moment and think that, on your next two-hour stint on the oars, that it's a completely different sea. You deal with the here and now and not think too far in advance."

    Cornwall Council is appealing for cash from the government to build a bridge across the railway line to link two developments in Newquay. 

    The new builds include 4,000 houses, shops and a school; and council bosses say the new road is needed to stop traffic using congested existing streets. 

    Cornwall councillor for the area, John Fitter, said he thought developers should pay for the road in the end, but, to get things moving, taxpayers' money would initially have to be used.

    Sgt Mike Friday who works in Hayle and St Ives will start an office job in Camborne in January, but locals said he was "integral" to their community. 

    He thanked people for their support but said he "always knew" he could be deployed elsewhere. 

    Devon and Cornwall Police said his "expertise" would be vital to the custody team in Camborne.

    Police, coastguards and a lifeboat are searching for a 68-year-old man who has gone missing in the Plymouth area.
