  13. Underground springs prompt ice road signs in Cornwallpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2017

    James Churchfield
    BBC Radio Cornwall

These road signs may be something you'd expect to see near a ski resort, or up a mountain, but they are in a low-lying part of Cornwall, on the A390 near Truro.

They've been put in place because of underground springs that can wash salt off the road after it has been gritted.

Peter Tatlow, Network Manager from Cormac Solutions said they are the first ice road signs in Cornwall, and gritting trucks will be applying more salt in the area as a matter of course.
