    A Plymouth councillor has been suspended after making a Nazi salute during a council debate about a council tax increase.

    Jonny Morris (pictured), a Labour councillor, directed the salute towards opposing members. He has "apologised unreservedly". 

    Plymouth Labour Group leader, Tudor Evans, said Mr Morris was angry about how the meeting was conducted. 

    He said: "There were a number of speakers, ready to speak on behalf of their communities about the loss of services... and people were prevented from speaking, so Jonny did this gesture. It was not the right thing to do at all."

    People are getting another chance to comment on controversial proposals to create a new parliamentary seat straddling the Cornwall-Devon border. 

    The government wants to reduce the number of constituencies in the UK from 650 to 600. It said the changes would be more democratic and save money. 

    However, some campaigners are unhappy about plans for a so-called Devonwall cross-border constituency of Bideford, Bude and Launceston, saying it wouldn't take into account unique situations faced by either county. 

    The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) said the second consultation followed on from an initial call for views and opinions, which saw almost 20,000 responses which were both "supporting and countering BCE's initial proposals".

    Campaigners are insisting they'll appeal after local councillors approved a controversial scheme for a hotel, flats and a car park on a prime spot in Torquay.

    The scheme involves the refurbishment of the town's Edwardian pavilion (pictured). It's taken a number of years to get the application approved.

    It features an 11-storey building on Torquay harbourside, and supporters said it would help regenerate the town. But campaigners claimed it would ruin the waterfront and put other protected sites at risk.

    A treatment centre in Bodmin which specialises in cataracts, hernias and other day surgeries will close at the end of next month.

    More than 5,000 patients a year are treated at the facility, which was set up 10 years ago. 

    Ramsay Healthcare, which provides its services, said the contract was ending as it could not come to an agreement with clinical commissioning group NHS Kernow.

    A woman is facing eviction from her mud-hut home which she says cures her "allergy to modern life".

    Kate Burrows and her partner, Alan, built their home in Devon of tree trunks knitted together and covered with mud and straw.

    She said the move was prompted by a series of illnesses caused by living in her former rented home.

    North Devon Council said they broke planning laws and has given them until December to move out.

    Plymouth is the latest local authority in the South West to increase council tax.

    It's going to go up by almost 4.5%, which will mean bills will rise by about £60 a year for the average Band D property. A large proportion of that will be spent on social care. 

    The city council has to make £37m worth of savings over the next three years to balance the books. It's already agreed to move to fortnightly bin collections and to increase burial costs.

    Police say that the A388 at Kelly Bray "will take time to clear".

    Officers  tweeted, external that there was heavy traffic and congestion in the area because of weather problems and a telegraph pole coming down, and a diversion was in operation "for small vehicles only". 

    Motorists should avoid the area if possible.

    The inquest into the deaths of 30 Britons in a terror attack at a Tunisian resort in 2015 - including a man from Bodmin - is to conclude later .

    A total of 38 people were killed when an Islamist gunman opened fire at a hotel in Sousse on 26 June 2015.

    The inquest examined whether the UK government and travel firms failed to protect British tourists. But the coroner will explain later why he has rejected a request to rule neglect was a contributory factor in their deaths.

    The attack at the five-star Riu Imperial Marhaba hotel was the deadliest on Britons since the 7 July 2005 London bombings. The gunman, Seifeddine Rezgui, was later shot dead by police.

    Highways England says that all traffic remains stopped on the A30 eastbound between the A3047 Camborne and the A3047 Redruth due to a multiple-vehicle collision. A clean-up operation's under way, it tweeted, external .

    Meanwhile, police have reported, external that a telegraph pole has come down on the A388 in Kelly Bray, and has been left resting on a vehicle's bonnet. 

    Officers tweeted, external that cars were "passing slowly" but the road would "need [a] partial closure to clear" and people should "approach with caution".

    Police have also warned that motorists on the A38 Moorswater, near Liskeard, are "driving too fast - slow down please". They said lane two was closed due to debris on road from an earlier collision.

    Icy roads and hailstorms have combined to make driving conditions treacherous across Cornwall.

    Problems caused by the conditions include a multiple-vehicle accident which has stopped traffic on the A30 heading eastbound between Camborne and Redruth. 

    Devon and Cornwall Police tweeted, external that a number of collisions had been "reported in different places on the A30 in Cornwall from 6am". 

    Officers added that motorists should "slow down and be extra cautious please" because of "hazardous conditions".

    Lorry driver Garfield told BBC Radio Cornwall that the A393 Lanner Hill was "like a skating rink".
