    The Paignton Picture House was a regular haunt of Agatha Christie, but has been shut since 1997.

    Now students from South Devon College are creating a show inside the old cinema, using projections, acting and dance.

    Bovey Tracey Primary School will be closed again today following an outbreak of sickness and diarrhoea.

    More than a fifth of the 294 pupils and six members of staff - including the head - have contracted the illness and the school has been closed since Wednesday.

    Now the decision has been made to complete a rigorous deep clean today. 

    Parents have been informed and the school say they look forward to welcoming children back on Monday

    A humpback whale first spotted last Friday off the Devon coast has made another appearance.

    Hundreds of people flocked to the south coast to try and see the animal last weekend.

    One of the world's first "local energy markets" is being pioneered in Cornwall and experts say it could lead to cheaper electricity bills. 

    Under the scheme, renewable energy will be produced, sold, and bought locally. 

    The £19m trial was launched this week and is funded by Europe and the energy company Centrica.

    If successful it could be rolled out globally, with experts claiming it has potential to transform the entire energy industry.

    Inpatient services at a Devon hospital are temporarily closing. 

    Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust says all other appointments at Holsworthy Community Hospital will continue but it is currently relying on agency staff to cover sickness and keep it open.

    There are also recruitment difficulties due to national shortages and the number of beds being used has dropped. 

    The trust says this is unrelated to the current shake-up of the county's health services.
