A top comedian had to stop his show in Plymouth while a man choking on a jelly bean was rescued by another member of the audience.
Comedian Ross Noble halted the show at Plymouth's Theatre Royal on Saturday when he saw Oliver Jackson choking on a jelly bean.
He pointed to Mr Jackson and a member of the audience performed the Heimlich manoeuvre to get rid of the sweet.
"I've given up jelly beans now," said Mr Jackson. "They don't seem to agree with me."
A soldier stabbed the mother of his child 11 times after she discovered he was being investigated for a sex offence, a court has heard.
Jay Nava, 27, of the Royal Citadel, Plymouth, is charged with murdering mother-of-two Natasha Wake, 26.

Plymouth Argyle defender Sonny Bradley says he can reach 10 league goals this season, after scoring his seventh of the campaign in their win at Doncaster.
The 25-year-old centre-back had only scored six career league goals before joining the Pilgrims last July.

The National Farmers' Union says it is against plans for beavers to play a role in tackling flooding in the south west.
A six year trial with the creatures at a secret Dartmoor location has seen them create a network of ponds and dams .
Researchers from the University of Exeter and the Devon Wildlife Trust believe they could help to slow the flow of flood water and so form part of a solution in flood prone areas.
However, a spokesperson for the NFU said the organisation "specifically opposes the re-introduction of the European Beaver because of concerns about the damage to farmland and farming operations caused by their physical activities and the risks of them spreading disease".

A young mother was killed by a speeding driver in a head-on crash on her way home from a Christmas pantomime with her family, a court has heard.

Daniel Smith, 31, from St Teath, hit them on Boxing Day 2015, Truro Crown Court heard.
He admits causing death by careless driving but denies causing both death and injury by dangerous driving.
The case continues.

Tintagel castle saw a rise of 19% - up to 230,000 visits.

The Eden project is the most visited attraction in the region, with more than a million visitors in 2016.

The number of visitors to the Eden Project last year surpassed the one million mark for the first time since 2011.
The most popular tourist attraction in the south west attracted 1,000,363 visitors during 2016.

The figures also show a large rise in people visiting Tintagel Castle. The North Cornwall attraction had nearly 230,000 visits - a rise of 19%.

Truro City boss Lee Hodges praised keeper Tom McHale after he played in their 4-2 win over Whitehawk despite being in a road accident on the way to the game.
The incident happened as McHale was driving to Treyew Road with teammates Stuart Yetton and Ben Adelsbury.

Work has started on a £250,000 scheme to install average speed cameras on the A38 and A380 at Splatford Split, near Exeter.
Highways England says the cameras along a 4km stretch of the eastbound carriageway will improve safety.
The work will involve two weeks of overnight single lane closures and one full overnight closure on 7 April.

A 35-year-old man has been jailed after pleading guilty to a stabbing in Holsworthy.
Philip Richards, formerly of Tower Street, Launceston, pleaded guilty to one charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, one charge of assault and two charges of having a blade in a public place.

He was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison at Exeter Crown Court today.

Devon beavers may provide a low cost solution to many of our flooding problems.
A trial, which has been taking place at a secret location near Dartmoor, has been monitoring the activity of a group of beavers over the past six years.
According to a report by the University of Exeter the animals have successfully reduced the risk of flash floods.
However, not everybody is happy about the beavers.
The National Farmers' Union says it is worried about the damage beavers may cause to farmland, and the risk of them spreading disease.

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was attacked in Penzance.
Police were called to Adelaide Street at around 17:50 BST yesterday. They say a local 35-year-old man was attacked by four men armed with knives, baseball bats and a crowbar.
Image source, GoogleHe was stabbed in his legs and torso, and was also hit in the head, officers said. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A 58-year-old man is currently in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder and awaits questioning.
They would like to speak to anybody with information.
