    Fire crews from Torpoint, Looe and Liskeard battled a fire at a chalet in Freathy, Cornwall, last night.

    Firefighters were called to the wooden building on Military Road just after 23.30. The cause of the blaze is not known. No-one was injured.

    Planning on watching the bus parade today, external to celebrate Plymouth Argyle's promotion?

    The team has given some information about the route:

    • First of all, a fleet of open-top buses will leave Home Park at approximately 1800
    • The team is encouraging the Green Army to bring flags, scarves - anything green, white and decorative - to help us dress the buses for the journey
    • Leaving at 18:00 the buses will travel down Alma Road, and turn right into Western Approach. When reaching Union Street, the buses will turn left, travel past Derry's Cross and up and down the length of Royal Parade, before turning back and pulling up at the Council House at about 18:20

    A surfer caught in a rip has been rescued by an off-duty RNLI lifeguard. 

    Andrew Miller was about to go for an early morning surf with a friend at Booby's Bay last Thursday when he spotted the surfer looking tired.

    Friends of the man in difficulty had been about to call the coastguard for help when Andrew paddled to rescue the man in a two metre high surf.

    The RNLI has lifeguard board bins stored at some beaches in case lifeguards or other trained members of the public need to help people out of patrol hours.

    British Olympic diver Tom Daley has shared a picture of his wedding to US film director Dustin Lance Black.

    The 22-year-old said they shared the day "with 120 of our closest friends and family" at Bovey Castle Hotel on Dartmoor, Devon.

    His new husband also shared a picture of the nuptials, asking "So... what did you do this weekend?"

    Daley married the film director and producer 30 miles from his home city of Plymouth.

    Kandi du Cros , 32, died after a breast implant operation became progressively poorly and later died in hospital after multiple organ failure, an inquest in Truro has heard.

    In a statement, her husband Raymond du Cros said she was "freezing cold and sweating and could not keep anything down".

    He said she had "looked absolutely awful" and had said to her mother, "Mum, it feels like I'm being poisoned". It was at that point her mother called an ambulance.

    Giving evidence, Dr David Hutchinson, Rheumatology Lead at the Royal Cornwall Hospital said: "In my opinion there was definitely clear evidence clinically of three failing organs in a short period of time."

    He said he believed there was "a real probability" the trauma of surgery had led to a flare up of her "very rare" autoimmune disorder, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.

    "It may be that a number of different things played a part here," he said.

    "Undergoing the breast surgery was not unreasonable given the information that was at hand at the time", he added.

    A dealer who made more than £100,000 out of selling drugs has been ordered to repay just £544.31, external. Leon Butt used his removals business as a cover for selling cocaine and amphetamines and was caught with £80,000 worth of drugs and £49,000 cash, which has already been seized.

    A 32-year-old mother who died after an operation for breast implants said she 'felt she was being poisoned' days before her death, an inquest has heard.

    St Austell based mother of one Kandi du Cros died on 20 January 2014 at the Royal Cornwall Hospital after developing a fever and vomiting.

    The hairdresser's husband Raymond du Cross told an inquest he had never been told exactly what caused her death and had concerns about her care leading up to it.

    The inquest in Truro heard she had undergone the breast surgery at the Duchy Hospital in Truro two weeks before and that she also suffered from a connective tissue disease.

    It's on the site of the old brewery at the bottom of the town where water gathers in heavy rain.

    The Royal Horticultural Society has invested £1.2m into a new venue for the Rosemoor garden in Devon.

    The Garden Room will be used for events, including concerts.

    Those behind the project say it's a significant investment into the South West Tourism industry and they expect it to bring more people to the region.

    Five firefighters were called to release a person who was trapped in their own bedroom, external. The crew had to extend a ladder to release the occupant just before 1am.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was punched in the face at a Plymouth nightclub.

    They say a 20-year-old man was on the edge of the dance floor at Pryzm Nightclub when he was punched once in the face by an unknown person about 01:30 on 4 May.

    He was taken to hospital and treated for dislodged teeth.

    Anyone who was present or could offer any further information about this incident is asked to contact the police on 101 or 101@DC.police.uk quoting crime reference number CR/034222/17.

    Hundreds of people are expected to line the streets of Plymouth later today when the city hosts an open-top bus parade for Plymouth Argyle football players, in celebration of their promotion to League One. 

    Argyle narrowly missed out on the League Two title at the weekend, after drawing 1 - 1 to Grimsby Town.

    Chairman James Brent says he could barely dream of this when he took over.

    "There was a lot of short term focus at the time... so it probably was a dream in the back of my mind but no more than that. I was very focused on keeping the ship afloat at that point," he said.

  15. Man 'pinned' to wall by car 'suffered leg injury'published at 10:58 British Summer Time 8 May 2017

    Ambulance crews say a man who was trapped between a car and a bridge wall near St Erme suffered a leg injury.

    The South Western Ambulance Service told the BBC it received reports of a "single vehicle road traffic collision" at 04.25 today.

    Seventeen firefighters help to free the man who was "pinned by the car", Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said.

    He was taken to hospital but it's not clear how he became trapped.

    British Olympic diver Tom Daley has married his partner, US film director, Dustin Lance Black.

    The couple got married in a service at a luxury hotel on Dartmoor National Park in Devon, a source confirmed to the BBC.

    The Bovey Castle Hotel venue is about 30 miles from Daley's home city of Plymouth.

    A guest at the wedding said media reports the diver re-enacted a scene from Romeo and Juliet were untrue.

    Starting this week Plymouth residents will get fortnightly collections for rubbish and recycling - that's one type of bin collected every other week. 

    In line with other councils, recycling will be collected one week and the following week non-recyclable waste will be collected. 

    The council hopes the move will increase recycling rates and save £750,000 a year.

    The leaders of Cornwall's political parties will begin negotiations today to work out who's going to lead the authority after last week's local elections. 

    No party had enough votes to take overall control. 

    The Conservatives are now the biggest group with 46 seats but that's not enough for them to form a majority administration. 

    The Independents have indicated that the "ball is in their court".
