    • Between Tavistock and Bere Alston, Crowndale Road is blocked by a fallen tree. Approach with care.
    • At Carkeel there's stop-start traffic on the A38 and A388 approaching the Carkeel Roundabout due to narrow lanes and roadworks.
    • In Plymstock on Billacombe Road inbound one lane is closed for roadworks just before Laira Bridge. Expect slow traffic.
    • On the A361 between Tiverton and the M5 one lane is closed for central barrier replacement. Traffic is slow moving.

    Two lifeboats were unnecessarily launched in wet and windy conditions in Cornwall last night due to irresponsible behaviour, the RNLI says.

    Falmouth Coastguard reported a vessel's emergency locater beacon (EPIRB) had been activated, so both Penlee lifeboats were sent to search the Mount's Bay area.

    Later in the night the Sennen Cove Lifeboat also launched and carried out a similar search towards Pendeen - but nothing was found, the chairty said.

    The emergency beacon was then located this morning in a bin on the North Pier in Newlyn Harbour by the Harbour Master. 

    A spokesperson for the RNLI said: "This was an extremely irresponsible thing to do which resulted in the unnecessary launch of two RNLI lifeboats - extreme care & caution should always be taken when disposing of an active EPIRB."

    A petition calling for a Devon council to drop plans to make people remove elaborate displays on graves has been signed by hundreds of people.

    North Devon District Council says it needs graves in Barnstaple's Bear Street Cemetery cleared of flowers and photographs away from headstones as they break the rules. 

    It says it need access to cut grass and to reopen other graves to bury families together. More than 1,500 people have signed the petition and a protest match through the town is planned.

    A man who arranged for toddlers and other children to be abused in the Philippines while he watched online has been jailed for 18 years. 

    Alain Collings paid women he knew in Manila to abuse children and babies while he recorded them at his home near Tiverton, Devon.

    He was caught because police were monitoring websites that his IP address was accessing and downloading images from. 

    Two images, dating back to 2011, showed Collings abusing a two-year-old child.

    Detectives called in an anatomy professor to compare his hands and were also able to identify him through jewellery he wore and a tattoo on his arm.

    Collings, 39, of Chapple Road, Witheridge, near Tiverton, Devon, admitted two offences of sexual assault on a child, five of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, three of arranging sexual offences against children and seven of making or possessing indecent images of children.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after serious crash involving a bike and a car on the A385 at Berry Pomeroy, Totnes, on 21 April.

    The male motorcyclist was taken hospital with arm injuries which are not believed to be life-changing.

    PC Phil Rooks of the Serious Collisions Investigation Team said: “We wish to speak to anyone who may have been travelling in the area at this time.

    “We are specifically seeking motorists who may have dash cam footage to contact us.” The crash happened at about 06:45.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash which involved three vehicles and a pedestrian on Friday.

    Emergency services were called to the A30 at Roseworthy dip near Camborne at 22:10.

    A 27-year-old local woman died at the scene. Police closed the road for six-and-a-half hours while a specialist forensic examination of the scene was carried out.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses.

    A paedophile who arranged for babies to be abused in the Philippines while he watched on Skype has been jailed for 18 years.

    Alain Collings paid women he knew in Manila £33,000 to abuse up to 46 children and babies while he recorded their suffering at his home in Tiverton, Exeter Crown Court heard.

    Recorder Mr David Bartlett told him: ”This is, if not the worst, then one of the worst, cases I have ever come across."

    “It is behaviour that is abhorrent to a civilised society for which you must be punished," he added.

    Police say it happened at the Spar Shop on Tower Road on Friday.

    Police have described the knifepoint robbery as an "isolated incident".

    A man believed to be from Exeter has died after falling a "considerable" distance while walking on Tryfan mountain in Snowdonia. 

    The man said to be in his early 60s, had been climbing with his daughter when he fell

    A nearby rock climber raised the alarm and the rescue team called a Coastguard helicopter to take the man to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor while they guided his "distraught" daughter, aged in her 20s, down the mountain.  

    The man was airlifted to hospital where he died.

    Youth teams can have both girls and boys on the pitch, but it's not allowed in the men and women's games.

  18. Police appeal for witnesses after woman 'seriously injured' in crashpublished at 10:00 British Summer Time 15 May 2017

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious crash between a pedestrian and a Fiat Punto on Saturday.

    Emergency services were called to The Pheasant Pluckers pub on Albert Road, Plymouth at 13:10.

    The pedestrian, a 45-year-old woman from the city, was seriously injured and was taken to Derriford Hospital. 

    Police closed the road for seven hours while a specialist forensic examination of the scene was carried out. Officers are appealing for witnesses.
