New guidelines in the case of pancreatitis caused by gallstones have been put in place in a hospital after the death of a man from Cornwall whose life could have been could saved by earlier surgery, an inquest has heard.

His death followed an earlier admission to hospital after Mr George collapsed. He had been discharged with a plan for him to be reviewed after six weeks, but there were delays.
The inquest in Truro heard from a senior upper gastrointestinal surgeon and the director of surgery for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust who told the coroner's court a thorough audit and review of the case had taken place since his death.
New guidelines and a new standard operating procedure in such cases had also been put in place, the hearing was told.
The inquest continues.
Cornwall Council says it is to consider what action to take over a judicial review into its granting planning permission for a heliport in Penzance.
The council granted permission for the project, to provide a base for a helicopter service to the Isles of Scilly, back in February.
The judicial review bid was launched by the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company (IoS), which operates Skybus flights to the islands and the ferries between Cornwall and the islands.
IoS said it supported the return of a helicopter service, but added it was calling for an independent and evidence-based debate about the potential impact of a new heliport in the town.
The council said it had "previously expressed its intention to robustly defend the decision" taken by its strategic planning committee.
It added: "Necessarily the authority needs to keep its position under review and will now be considering what action to take in the light of the decision to grant permission for the judicial review to proceed."
A pensioner has been arrested in Plymouth on suspicion of being a loan shark.
Investigators said the England Illegal Money Lending Team, working in partnership with Devon and Cornwall Police, raided a house in Barne Barton, seizing documents and electronic devices.
A 67-year-old man is being questioned.
A dead dog's remains in a bag have been pulled from water at a Cornish quarry.
Police confirmed they were investigating a Labrador dog being "found deceased within a holdall" at Carn Marth Quarry in Lanner, Redruth after it was found this afternoon.

An alleged racially-aggravated disturbance at Exeter's mosque after a peace walk and vigil in the city has been described as "extremely disappointing" by police who are investigating the incident.
Three men were arrested after alleged "racially-aggravated verbally abusive comments" were made to people inside the mosque at about 20:30 on Saturday, after the vigil in Bedford Square, Devon and Cornwall Police said, external.
The men - aged 31, 26 and 24 - were arrested on suspicion of public order offences and released under investigation, pending further inquiries.
Supt Sam de Reya, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "These allegations are extremely disappointing, especially after such an uplifting event such as the vigil and we will not tolerate such appalling incidents of hate crime in Devon and Cornwall."

Police in Kingsbridge are hunting vandals who spray painted a church.
Officers said, external blue and white paint was sprayed on Dodbroke Church and a banner was also ripped and damaged at the top of Church Street.
Looking at reopening beds at a Devon community hospital is "not just a pen-pushing exercise", health bosses say.
There were protests back in March when the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust shut the 16 inpatient beds at Holsworthy Hospital because of staff shortages and low bed occupancy.
Its managing trust said it was to look at both of those issues to see if it was possible to reopen the beds.
Trust Deputy Director Katherine Allen said: "It is something we feel really strongly about. We want community involvement."

A property has been severely damaged after a thatch roof fire, firefighters say.
Fire crews from Devon and Cornwall were called to the property in St Giles on the Heath at about 10:45, finding the roof "well alight, external", firefighters said, external.
By 14:30, crews confirmed the fire was out, but that areas of the property not damaged by the fire itself were damaged by heat and smoke.
Crews are damping down at the scene. The cause is believed to be accidental.

Plans to close six libraries in Plymouth are "a real hit on deprived people in deprived communities", opposition city councillors say.
Ten out of the city's 17 branches had initially been earmarked to shut before the proposals, but it has been reduced to six. Eggbuckland, Ernesettle, Laira, Stoke, Tothill and West Park are facing closing their doors for good.
Ian Bowyer, leader of the Conservatuive/UKIP-run authority, said the move would mean keeping more of the "better used ones open".
However, Labour Group leader Tudor Evans (pictured) said his group was "still against it" because those affected would include people who used libraries' internet facilities in poorer areas to access support services and job-seeking help.
He said: "What they're doing is closing a third of the city's library network. Having said it was going to be a 'complete disaster', they've only gone for 'disaster'."

Gables Farm Home said the tiny dog, now named Dearie Me, was found by a member of the public in a bag inside a wheelie bin in the North Hill area of the city.
Deputy Manager Ruth Rickard said: "We will be providing 24 hour care for her and feeding her every two hours in the hope that she will become stronger.
"It is touch and go at the moment as she is so young and we don’t know how long she had been left in the bin. We will do everything we can to fight for her little life."
Police are continuing to be "present in numbers, external" every day this week around a Devon school where two arrests were made following public disorder linked to end-of-exam celebrations.
