    A man has been rescued from cliffs near Newquay after he fell onto the decking of a property below.

    Coastguard and ambulance teams called Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service where officers used a triple extension ladder to bring up the man at Fly Cellars after the alarm was raised at about 19:30 on Monday.

    The man was airlifted by air ambulance to Newquay then by a coastguard helicopter to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth

    Fire crews had to deal with a major car fire in Paignton in the early hours of this morning.

    The vehicle, which had been in a collision at Glazegate Cross, was well alight.

    Crews used beathing apparatus, three hose reel jets and two thermal-imaging cameras to tackle the blaze. There were no reports of any casualties.

    A mother died after complications linked to a hysterectomy performed by a notorious surgeon, an inquest has heard.

    In 1992, Kym Gambie underwent what was considered to be a routine procedure performed by obstetrician Rob Jones.

    He was later the subject of numerous safety reviews and expressions of concern over his practice.

    Mrs Gambie, from Bodmin, died in 2015 having never regained her health after the operation at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, the hearing in Truro was told.

    A narrative conclusion recorded that Mrs Gambie's death was linked to the hysterectomy by Mr Jones, but there was no evidence that the procedure itself was substandard.

  7. Coverack: A week onpublished at 09:28

    It's been a week since flash floods hit the Cornish village of Coverack.

    The major incident - which involved the coastguard and other rescue services springing into action - saw about 50 homes and businesses damaged by the water.

    Remarkably no one was hurt.

    A week on, and just two days into the main holiday season, the main road into the town has now been fixed.

    The main road in a flash flood-hit village was repaired and reopened on Monday - less than a week after being badly damaged.

    Dozens of homes and businesses were damaged in the coastal village on the Lizard after a heavy rain and hail storm.

    Children as young as 11 have been investigated for sexting by Devon and Cornwall Police.

    It's illegal to possess, take or distribute sexual images of someone who's under 18 - including one's self.

    Sexting

    Experts said youngsters may not realise sexting could be a crime, or how quickly a picture could end up being widely shared.

    The force said there was clear national guidance not to criminalise children, and it was generally accepted there should be an initial warning.
