    A teenager is to appear in court after another teenager was stabbed in Truro, police say.

    A 14-year-old boy was treated for a puncture wound to his back after being attacked outside Trelander and St Clement Community Hall in September.

    Officers said a 16-year-old boy was to face charges of causing grievous bodily harm and being in possession of a bladed article.

    A 13-year-old girl was charged with causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident, they added.

    The boy was due to appear at Truro Crown Court on 29 November, police said.

    A fire at a hotel in Ilfracombe is believed to have been started deliberately, firefighters say, external.

    Some 184 residents had to be evacuated from the Bay Dilkhusa Grand Hotel in Wilder Road after the alarm was raised at about 02:40.

    The blaze started in the toilet of a third-floor guest room of the four-storey building. The incident was dealt with by 05:30.

    Eight people were injured, four taken to hospital. Most were suffering after breathing in smoke and one had chest pains.

    Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "At this time, the cause of the fire is suspected to be deliberate. A police investigation will be carried out."

    A fire in a hotel in Ilfracombe was brought to a "swift conclusion", firefighters say.

    The blaze at the Bay Dilkhusa Grand Hotel started in the toilet of a third-floor guest room.

    Some 184 residents had to be evacuated from the four-storey building in Wilder Road after the alarm was raised at about 02:40.

    The incident was reported as "finished" by 05:28, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said, external.

    Watch Manager Bob Walker said: "I think we demonstrated this morning how well pre-planning works.

    "We attended very quickly. We worked with hotel management and the plans that they had in place ensured that the incident was brought to a swift conclusion.

    Eight people were injured, four taken to hospital. Most were suffering after breathing in smoke and one had chest pains.

    An investigation has begun into the cause.

    There are no prisons in Cornwall, and the three in Devon - Channings Wood, Dartmoor and Exeter - are for men.

    The nearest prison for female offenders from the South West is in Gloucestershire.

    Campaigners working with ex-offenders said being far from home could lead to family breakdown and reoffending.

    Emergency services from across north Devon and Exeter were called to the scene at about 02:40 after receiving reports of a blaze and people being trapped.

    The incident was reported as "finished" by 05:28, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said, external.

    Eight people were injured, four taken to hospital. Most were suffering after breathing in smoke and one had chest pains.

    The third floor was 20% damaged by fire, with the remainder of it damaged by smoke. The fourth floor was also affected by smoke.

    An investigation has begun into the cause.
