    The M5 is closed in both directions between Exeter and Cullompton due to a police incident.

    Diversions are in place but traffic is queueing and northbound there are tailbacks to Exminster.

    The B3181 diversion route and surrounding roads are all very congested and the A373 between Cullompton and Honiton is also very slow moving as drivers try to avoid the M5.

    Highways are asking drivers to avoid the area or use alternative routes if possible.

    The bravery of the Cockleshell heroes has been marked with a permanent memorial in France, unveiled by Royal Marines from Plymouth.

    A group of Royal Marines have been kayaking on the Gironde River, recreating the route of a commando raid on shipping in the German-occupied port of Bordeaux, during World War Two.

    After revealing the memorial at Saint-Genès-de-Blaye, the team there have now set off on a 100-mile march on the escape route.

    Only two of the original Cockleshell Heroes survived the operation in 1942.

    Wintry showers will become more isolated overnight with some clear spells and lowest temperatures are likely over Dartmoor.

    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary in St Austell, Cornwall.

    Devon and Cornwall Police attended the Co-op stores on Moorland Road at 02:15 on Friday after the store alarm was activated.

    The two men, both aged 39, remain in police custody and are awaiting questioning.

    An Atlantic bluefin tuna, accidentally landed by a fisherman off Brixham, was the first to be captured off the south coast of Devon.

    The 7ft (2m) tuna has been handed to scientists at the University of Exeter for dissection.

    Catching and selling bluefin tuna is prohibited in the UK, external but because more are being spotted in British waters, researchers expect more to be accidentally caught in the future.

    Dr Matthew Witt, from the university, said: "Numbers dwindled in UK waters in the late 20th Century, possibly due to fishing, but in the last five years more have been seen off our coasts."

    He added: "The species might be recovering, but it's also possible that populations are simply moving and that's why we're seeing more here."

    Exeter scientists are hoping to attach satellite tags to bluefin tuna in the future to discover more information about their movements.

    A 26-year-old man from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released under investigation after a stabbing, police say.

    A 29-year-old man was left with two stab wounds to his lower back which led to a collapsed lung after being attacked in Bodmin on 3 November.

    He also sustained a fractured cheek bone, cuts to his face and stab wounds to his left arm.

    Anyone with information is being asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

    Police are appealing for help to find a 15-year-old girl who is missing from Torrington, Devon.

    Ebbie Adams was last seen at 09:20 on Friday.

    She is described as being white, of medium build with brown long hair.

    She was last seen wearing a school uniform consisting of black trousers, a black blazer with a green logo and a yellow Snoopy rucksack.

    Anyone with information is being asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

    A yellow warning of wind has been issued for the South West on Sunday.

    The Met Office has published the following information that covers between 04:00 and 19:00 on Sunday:

    A spell of strong winds is expected to move east across the far south of England and Wales on Sunday morning. Some short term loss of power and other services is possible, as well as some delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges. It is likely that some coastal routes, sea front and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves.

    An animal rights activist group is calling for a ban on horse racing after capturing on camera a horse that was fatally injured and destroyed.

    So far there's been double the number of horse deaths at South West race courses this year with seven horses dying compared to last year when there were three, according to Horse Race Death Watch.

    In the last decade, there have been 89 horse deaths at South West race courses including 41 at Newton Abbot and 26 at Exeter.

    Tori Strong from Devon Animal Save says the world lacks people who care about what's happening adding, "if we don't stand here, then nobody's going to stand here".

    The British Horse Racing Authority disputes the figures and says no race meeting can take place unless strict welfare criteria are adhered to.

    A tuna accidentally caught off Devon has been dissected by scientists at the University of Exeter.

    The 7ft (2m) Atlantic bluefin tuna was landed by a fisherman off Brixham.

    As catching and selling bluefin tuna is prohibited in the UK, external, it was handed to Exeter researchers to find out how the tuna came to be in Devon waters.

    Dr Lucy Hawkes, from the university said: “This is an endangered species so we want to learn as much as we can from this individual."

    She added: “The eye lenses have layers like an onion, and tests on these can reveal a ‘geographical signature’ showing where the tuna has been through its life."
