School starts own food bank to help local communitypublished at 10:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2017
Students at a school in Cornwall have started their own food bank to help their community.
The Year 9 Citizenship Group at Pool Academy, near Camborne, has spent time learning about local charities during the lead-up to Christmas, and how the festive season could be very hard for some people.
One lesson has been about the CPR Food Bank, which supports people in Camborne, Pool and Redruth.
This inspired students to encourage everyone to donate to their own food bank box in the school's reception.
Student Katie said it had been important to learn how much people might need.
She said: "It's been interesting to learn about how much people need help to feed their families. It's really important to me, as well as other people in my class."
