    Students at a school in Cornwall have started their own food bank to help their community.

    The Year 9 Citizenship Group at Pool Academy, near Camborne, has spent time learning about local charities during the lead-up to Christmas, and how the festive season could be very hard for some people.

    One lesson has been about the CPR Food Bank, which supports people in Camborne, Pool and Redruth.

    This inspired students to encourage everyone to donate to their own food bank box in the school's reception.

    Student Katie said it had been important to learn how much people might need.

    She said: "It's been interesting to learn about how much people need help to feed their families. It's really important to me, as well as other people in my class."

    He managed many clubs in Cornwall, enjoying immense success with St Blazey.

    Police in the Truro area are warning people that anyone who causes trouble during the festive period and finds themselves banned from one pub or club will actually be "banned from all".

    The Truro neighbourhood team said, external the majority of local pubs and clubs operated a policy that, "should you cause any trouble, you will be asked to leave and then banned from entering other premises".

    Officers added: "This has been a very successful approach in the past. Don't ruin your night out, or that of your friends."

    Devon County Council has denied being behind the removal of a floral memorial, external created near the spot where a much-loved man was murdered on New Year's Day in 2015.

    The memorial to Tanis Bhandari was built on a trough originally set down in the 1980s and a workman removed it this week, claiming it was on the orders of the council.

    Rough sleepers in Devon are being urged to get in touch with councils if they need help.

    South Hams and West Devon councils said they had activated their severe weather emergency protocols.

    The authorities said they were offering accommodation to those they knew to be sleeping rough.

    Staff added that they were working with local support groups to encourage people to take up offers of help "during the current cold snap and throughout winter, when the risk of illness or permanent harm is so much higher".

    A man is still in hospital in a serious condition following a crash on the A30 in Cornwall, police say.

    The driver was injured when his Fiat Panda crashed on the westbound slip road at Scorrier at about 17:40 on Thursday, Devon and Cornwall Police said, external.

    The 59-year-old, from Camborne, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by air ambulance. He suffered life-changing injuries, police said.

    Officers have appealed for witnesses and any dashcam footage.

    Tributes are being paid to legendary Cornwall local football manager Trevor Mewton, who has died this morning.

    Mewton managed many clubs in Cornwall and enjoyed immense success with St Blazey.

    The club has tweeted his morning that it was "very sad" to hear the news that it's most successful manager had passed away and the club's thoughts are with his family.

    Inquests are expected to be opened later into the deaths of two teenagers who died after a night out in Plymouth.

    Police said Aaron Reilly, from Newton Abbot, and Joshua Brock, from Okehampton - both aged 19 - lost their lives after taking a form of the drug ecstasy.

    They collapsed in the Pryzm nightclub and died later at Derriford Hospital.

    An 18-year-old arrested in connection with the deaths in Plymouth has been released under investigation.

    Fire crews from five towns were called to a blaze in Penzance overnight.

    Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the house fire in Adelaide Street at about 03:00 after reports of smoke coming from the building.

    Crews from Penzance, Falmouth, Hayle, St Ives and St Just extinguished the blaze.

    People are finding it increasingly difficult to access GP appointments, according to Cornwall's health watchdog.

    Healthwatch Cornwall said people had been flagging up issues such as surgery closures or new housing putting pressure on appointment availability.

    It has launched a survey, external in bid to get a fuller picture of the issue after getting feedback suggesting experiences vary across practices.

    It said it hoped to use the results to help with planning new or alternative options.

    The survey is open until 19 January.

    The school, in Drakewalls, Gunnislake, said it was shut because electrical engineers were cutting power to it for the morning which would leave it without heating and lighting.

    Two motorists were injured in two serious crashes on the same stretch of the A30 on Thursday, emergency services have said.

    A driver was airlifted to hospital after a single vehicle crash at just after 09:00 near Tolvaddon. The A30 was closed in both directions.

    Just before 18:00 emergency services were called to the A30 near Scorrier, to rescue a driver trapped in a vehicle after a crash.

    The driver was then taken by ambulance to the Royal Cornwall Hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by air ambulance.

    Police have renewed an appeal for a missing 15-year-old from Devon.

    Daniel Chambers, from Tipton St John, was last seen at his home address by his parents two days ago. He didn't catch his bus to school.

    It is believed he likes to visit Sidmouth and Beer.

    Daniel is described as white, approximately 6ft (1.9m) tall, with a slim build, with short dark brown hair and is clean shaven.

    It is believed he carrying a black rucksack with a green coloured DC Logo.
