    Scottish Premier League side Motherwell have signed forward Nadir Ciftci on loan from Celtic until the end of the season, ending his spell at Plymouth Argyle.

    The 25-year-old striker, who also has experience of Turkish, Dutch and Polish football, failed to score a goal during a difficult time at Home Park.

    He made eight appearances for the Pilgrims, but played just one league game in the last three months as he fell out of favour.

    "I'm delighted to have got Nadir here until the end of season," said Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson.

    "He is a player with a proven track record of scoring goals in the Scottish top flight and we're pleased to have got him here."

    Devon health campaigners say patients are being "dumped" at home by hospitals without receiving appropriate care, or even pain medication.

    The "Save Our Hospital Services" campaign blames the closure of 190 of Devon's community hospital beds in 2017.

    The group has created a film for social media detailing the experiences of unhappy patients.

    Angela Rose, who is featured in the video campaign, was discharged from hospital following a major operation without a home care package in place, or pain relief.

    She said: "It was traumatic because I felt like I'd just been dumped. The lack of pain relief was a biggie for me, it was quite hard for me because they'd cut through my ribs and of course I was in agony because of that."

    Inpatient beds at her local community hospital in Honiton were closed in 2017.

    Health commissioners denied these allegations and said they wanted to hear from anyone who had experienced problems with the scheme.

    They said that the campaigners' film is "insensitively timed, unbalanced, and devalues the vital work our staff do to ensure people are well at home".

    Three men "smashed their way into a conservatory" before stealing a gold Rolex watch and "several thousand pounds cash" in Truro, police say, external.

    The aggravated burglary happened in Chyvelah Vale, near to Truro College, at about 20:00 on 5 January.

    One of the thieves threatened the occupant whilst the other two men carried out a further search.

    The men were described as approximately 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, one of which was of large build. All men were wearing face coverings and gloves.

    A woman was "shoved to the ground" while waiting for a train on New Year's Eve in Devon, police say.

    It happened at Digby and Sowton railway station at about 21:30.

    British Transport Police (BTP) said the woman was approached by and unknown man and the assault was "completely unprovoked". The victim was left with a bump to the back of her head, plus cuts on her hands and knees.

    A number of people on the station intervened, including many fans who had been attending an Exeter Chiefs' rugby match.

    Officers said, external they would like to speak to the man pictured as he "may have more information which could help the investigation".

    People are being asked to contact BTP with any details they may have.

    One adult has been treated for smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire in Exeter.

    Crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called out to reports of a fire, external on Blackall Road, at about 23:35 on Tuesday, but the fire was out on arrival.

    Firefighters ventilated the area, which was heavily smoke-logged, while paramedics treated the injured person.

    The cause was accidental.

    Firefighters have been dealing with a telegraph pole that caught fire after an "electrical fault" in Cornwall.

    Fowey Fire Station said crews were called to Prideux Road in St Blazey at about 01:00.

    Road diversions were put in place.

    Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service added that the fire was put out and the incident left with Western Power Distribution.

    A pile of linen which caught light on an electrical heater was responsible for a house fire in Devon this morning, firefighters have said.

    Crews were called out to reports of a fire at a house on All Saint's Road, Sidmouth, just after midnight on Monday.

    A fire was confirmed in the ground floor flat, which two Devon & Somerset Fire Service crews made safe.

    The cause of the fire has been deemed accidental.

    Train passengers face another day of disruption as union members at four rail firms stage the latest 24-hour strikes in disputes over safety.

    Services on South Western Railway, which operates in areas including London Waterloo, Reading, Exeter and Southampton, are likely to be affected on Wednesday.

    Routes operated by Greater Anglia, Merseyrail and Northern also face disruption.

    RMT union members also walked out on Monday and plan to again on Friday.

    The Department for Transport denied the dispute was about safety. It said rail firms would "keep passengers moving".

  16. Social housing changes prioritising 'local connections'published at 07:07

    The way Cornwall allocates social housing is changing.

    Almost 19,000 homes are on the Homechoice housing register, external for rental properties in the county.

    Councillor Andrew Mitchell, the Cornwall Council cabinet member responsible for the brief, said the authority was strengthening the rules so homes should go to people with strong local connections and with the greatest need.

    After three years on the housing register, Laura Todd and her family recently moved into a new three-bedroom rented council home in Goonhavern near Truro.

    She said that, without it, they wouldn't have been able to stay in the area.
