    A multi-agency serious case review into events leading up to the murder of Tanis Bhandari is still being considered, external.

    The 27-year-old was murdered by two men on New Year’s Day 2015 in Tamerton Foliot.

    One of his killers, Donald Pemberton, had been arrested two weeks prior to the murder after brandishing two meat cleavers in a Stonehouse street. He was on licence at the time, having just been released from prison, and was released on bail by police following the incident.

    The family of a man from Somerset who was killed in a road collision on the A30 near Exeter have paid tribute to a relative who was "loved by everyone".

    Fifty-five-year-old Gary Dare, from Crewkerne, died after he was hit by a van while he was changing a tyre on the roadside at Alphington at about 12:25 on Monday, 26 March.

    In their tribute, his family said: "At this time as a family we would like to say how devastated we are at the loss of a husband, son, father, brother and grandfather. He was loved by everyone.

    "We would like to thank everyone who stopped to help us and to the emergency services for all they did."

    Devon and Cornwall Police said, external officers from the Roads Policing Team were still appealing for witnesses.

    Drugs with an estimated street value of about £20,000 have been seized during a police raid in south Devon, police say, external.

    Brixham Police said that its officers and others from Paignton raided a residential property while executing a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant.

    A 33-year-old women was detained during the operation and what was believed to be class A and B controlled drugs, including cannabis, and suspected paraphernalia were seized.

    The Lord Mayor of Exeter has apologised after sharing an "Islamophobic" Facebook post.

    Councillor Lesley Robson, who represents the Priory ward on the city council, shared a post saying that a Tesco on Oak Street in London refused to serve a solider because he was in uniform and they were afraid it would offend Muslim customers.

    The post asked people to share it if they thought it was "an outrage".

    Mr Robson has since deleted it, saying: "I am sorry. As soon as I was told what it was, I deleted it."

    The post, proven to be a fake, has been doing the rounds on social media since 2015.

    A spokesman for Tesco previously confirmed that it is a fake, saying the supermarket chain "doesn't even have a store on Oak Street".

    The picture of the Tesco branch feature in the post is actually in Stroud Green in London.

    Former Exeter city and Devon county councillor Joan Morrish has died, aged 91, the city council says, external.

    The former city Liberal Group leader died suddenly at her home on Saturday morning just six weeks after her husband, David - also a former city and county councillor - passed away at a local nursing home.

    Mrs Morrish was a member of the city council for 21 years, representing the St Loyes ward. She served on the county council for 10 years.

    The former St Thomas High School deputy head teacher retired from politics in 2012.

    City council leader Pete Edwards said he was saddened by the news and that it was particularly sad that she died so soon after her husband passed away.

    The death of a man found in a property in Launceston early on Easter Monday is not being treated as suspicious, police say.

    Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the house in Penhole Drive at about 03:00. The man was found inside but died later.

  19. Devon woman supports 'one-stop shops' for cancer diagnosispublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 3 April 2018

    "One-stop shops" aimed at speeding up cancer diagnosis are being introduced across England.

    The aim is to catch the disease earlier and prevent patients from being referred for several tests for different forms of the illness.

    NHS England says this is a "step change" in the way people with suspected cancer are diagnosed and treated.

    Anne from Paignton had bowel cancer 18 years ago and is in remission. She says early detection is "definitely the key".
