    Work is progressing on a section of the coast path in west Cornwall which was washed into the sea in storms earlier this year.

    The path between Porthleven and Loe Bar is having to be diverted away from the coast over farmland.

    Greg Cross is the National Trust ranger for the area and said it's been an expensive project but one that will be worthwhile...

    The Tuesday sailing of the Scillonian ferry between Penzance and the Isles of Scilly has been delayed while work is carried out to rectify an electrical fault.

    Hundreds of passengers were delayed for three hours on the Isles of Scilly on Monday night after the Scillonian developed the fault.

    Engineers were flown out to fix the problem while passengers were looked after by local businesses. The vessel later returned to Penzance.

    Managers said: "Day trip passengers have been cancelled and staying passengers are currently being contacted."

    A young woman has described her joy at being able to live independently after 15 years in hospital.

    Louise Scanlon, who has learning disabilities and mental health problems, said she finally has the freedom to choose her clothes and go out when she wants.

    It took two years of different bodies working closely together, under something called a transforming care programme, to arrange for Ms Scanlon to have a home in Plymouth.

    She said: "I didn't think I would be coming to a house this beautiful."

  13. Firefighters help cow after milking parlour fallpublished at 07:53 British Summer Time 31 July 2018

    A cow has been helped to its feet after falling in a milking parlour.

    Firefighters used a head collar, harness and lines along with a telehandler to rescue the cow.

    The crew from Barnstaple, along with fire crews from South Molton were called to the farm in Queens Nympton on Monday at 19:15.

    • In Teignmouth, on the A379 Teignmouth Road, near the junction of New Road, there are temporary traffic lights due to a burst water main. Traffic is slow-moving
    • At Dawlish Warren, Beach Road is partially blocked near Dawlish Warren Road due to the bridge being struck by a vehicle
    • On the trains, expect delays on all between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbot due to the vehicle hitting a bridge in Dawlish Warren
    • Staying with trains and there's industrial action on South Western Railway services on Tuesday. Passengers should check their journey before they travel

    Flybe, whose headquarters is in Exeter, is warning that no agreement is in place for services to mainland Europe after Brexit.

    With only eight months until Britain leaves the EU, airlines have no legal, commercial or political deals in place.

    Flybe said it was already selling fares for next summer, with fingers crossed that common sense would prevail. But it warned there was no certainty.

    Chief commercial officer Roy Kinnear said: "Customers are used to buying their flights in advance."
