Jason Commins, 23, from Ide, Exeter, has been issued with a Civil Football Banning Order following a hearing at Exeter Magistrates Court on 30 July.

The order means he can't attend regulated football matches in England and Wales, and prevents him from travelling abroad to watch England.

Police evidence showed he had contributed to disorder at eight Exeter matches between 2013 and 2018, as well as at the European Championships in 2016.

He was also fined £400 to be paid to Devon and Cornwall Police.

  10. New lock bridge 'not suitable for wheelchairs'published at 14:54 British Summer Time 3 August 2018

    Millicent Cooke
    BBC News Online

A new walkway has opened in Plymouth to bridge the gap between the Barbican and Sutton Harbour.

The lock bridge broke down and has been closed since April 2017.

However, the new walkway is "not suitable for wheelchairs or anyone with mobility issues" as it involves steps and a narrow, single-file path, Plymouth City Council said.

Single pushchairs, prams and dismounted cyclists may use it "subject to the discretion" of safety marshals who will be present at the walkway, the authority said.

Repairing the bridge, which was fitted more than 20 years ago, has proven difficult due to its unique design.

Visitors had faced a walk around the harbour or a £1.50 boat ride to cross the quay.

    Quote Message

People have been very clear they want to get from A to B in the easiest way possible. It has been quite a challenge for all those involved to make this happen as we are taking pedestrians across areas of the lock which were not designed for public access. We are literally engineering a solution."

    Adrian Campbell, Environment Correspondent
    BBC Spotlight

A new study of Crantock Beach near Newquay has revealed the route of the River Gannel is "not the natural part" of the river and is in fact an "engineered route".

Experts are studying the area because of a recent spate of swimmers getting into difficulty in the rip currents.

Now, some local people are calling for an old wall - which contained the river that runs across the beach - to be restored to make the area safer.

Dr Christopher Stokes from Plymouth University is involved with the study and has discovered some interesting facts about the river's history...
