    Truro City Football Club could be coming back to Treyew Road.

    At a packed public meeting on Thursday night, club chairman Peter Masters (pictured, standing) told supporters that supermarket Lidl chain has a deadline of the 16 October to decide whether or not it wants to build at Treyew Road.

    If no agreement is reached, the White Tigers could play the remainder of the games this season back in Truro.

    They have been sharing a ground with Torquay United at Plainmoor, meaning a round trip of 200 miles for fans to see a home game.

  6. Storm Callum: 340+ households without power in Cornwallpublished at 08:50 British Summer Time 12 October 2018

    More than 340 households are without power in Cornwall, and roads are strewn with debris as Storm Callum batters the county.

    Utility company Western Power Distribution said 342 properties were without electricity just after 08:30, with the bulk of those in the Par and Camelford areas.

    There are two weather warnings in place, external, with the Met Office saying strong winds have combined with very heavy rain in some places.

    Gusts of 76mph were recorded overnight on the Isles of Scilly.

    • On the A380, Telegraph Hill traffic is at a standstill Exeter-bound between Ashcombe and the A38 Splatford Split due to a four-vehicle collision
    • In Honiton, the A35 is closed in both directions between the A30 and Abbey Gate.
    • In Barnstaple, the A377 Bishop's Tawton Road is blocked by a fallen tree
    • Between Torrington and Bideford, the A386 is partially blocked by a fallen tree
    • In Pyworthy, Derriton Road is blocked by a fallen tree
    • In Lympstone, on Nutswell Road, there's a tree blocking the road In Tavistock Hartsole Hill Road is impassable due to a fallen tree
    • In Shute, Shute Road is blocked by a fallen tree.
    • Near Withleigh two fallen trees are blocking the B3137.
    • The Dartmouth Higher Ferry has suspended crossings between Kingswear and Dartmouth
    • At Exeter Airport, flights have been cancelled due to the weather conditions. Passengers should contact their operators for the latest details
    • On the trains, services are disrupted or delayed due to the extreme conditions
    • Traffic on the Tamar Bridge is slower than normal due to high winds
  9. Storm Callum: Flood warnings in Devonpublished at 08:33 British Summer Time 12 October 2018

    The Met Office has put a yellow warning for wind in place across Devon until midnight on Saturday and there are Environment Agency flood warnings in place, which means flooding is expected and action should be taken.

    The flood warnings affect Beesands, Torcross, Slapton and Dawlish in the south of the county, as well as the Kingsbridge and Avon estuaries

    There are also 14 flood alerts in force across the county, external.

    Police are warning about overtopping and large waves around the coasts at high water, which was just after 08:00.

    There are also many properties in several areas of Devon currently without power, including 112 households without power in the Ivybridge area.

    Firefighters battled to bring a fire under control in Paignton as a huge swathe of smoke billowed over the seaside town.

    Sixteen fire crews - including about 70 firefighters - dealt with the blaze at Scoffs fish and chip shop and flats above Torbay Road on Thursday evening.

    The road was closed between Victoria Street and Esplanade Road.

    No-one was reported as being hurt.

    Firefifghters are continuing to damp down hot spots.

  14. Storm Callum: Flybe flights cancelledpublished at 08:16 British Summer Time 12 October 2018

    Flybe has cancelled all its early morning flights from Exeter Airport and Newquay Airport because of the high winds.

    Its advice to customers affected by the cancellations is not to travel to the airport.

    The Exeter to Alicante flight has been rescheduled to 13:00, with passengers on that flight being advised to check in accordingly.

    Gale force winds and heavy rain are causing severe disruption across Devon and Cornwall.

    About 2,000 properties are without power and drivers are being warned of fallen trees and debris blocking some roads and standing water.

    There are also reports of traffic lights out of action.

    Winds of nearly 80mph have been recorded.

    Ferry services, trains and flights are also being affected.

    High winds have reduced the Tamar ferry service, with only two vessels currently in operation, external, while all sailings of the King Harry ferry have been halted.

    Flybe has cancelled its morning flights due to depart from Exeter and Newquay before 11:00 and CrossCountry Trains have cancelled and amended a number of its services.

    Firefifghters are continuing to damp down hot spots at the scene of a large fire in the centre of Paignton.

    The blaze broke out on Thursday evening at a fish and chip shop in Torbay Road, which spread to the flats above and at least three neighbouring properties.
