    Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted and robbed in Plymouth city centre in an attack which saw two of her teeth knocked out.

    Officers said, external a woman in her 30s was assaulted by two other women on a footpath between Cornwall Street car park and New George Street between 16:00 and 17:00 on 11 December.

    They grabbed her handbag and stole cosmetics, plus £250 from her purse.

    The victim also suffered bruising to her face and back.

    Police are asking witnesses to contact them by phoning 101.

    The date has been set for this year's Exeter Pride festival.

    It will take place on Saturday, 11 May and will be part of a wider week of events in the city.

    It is one of the South West's biggest celebrations of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and questioning-plus communities.

    An estimated 7,000 people turned out for it last year.

    A campaign has been launched in north Devon to keep the Royal Marines base at Chivenor open.

    Local Conservative MP Peter Heaton-Jones is delivering more than 20,000 leaflets, asking residents to write to Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson to support keeping RMB Chivenor.

    He said its closure would have a serious impact on the local economy...

    In parliament last October, external, Armed Forces Minister Mark Lancaster said a 20-year strategy to establish an "amphibious centre of excellence in Plymouth" first published two years ago "remains in place as it stands".

    The move would see a merger of Royal Navy and Royal Marine troops and resources in Plymouth, and includes the planned closure of Chivenor.

    Cornish Pirates owner Dickie Evans has promised to fight any attempts to ringfence the Gallagher Premiership, external "tooth and nail", which could extend to legal action.

    Leaked reports over the weekend revealed that certain factions within Premiership Rugby want to scrap promotion and relegation from the second tier this season and set up a 13-team division.

    Any such move would be fiercely resisted by a posse of ambitious teams such as Pirates, Ealing Trailfinders, Coventry and Yorkshire Carnegie, who all have designs on top-flight rugby.

    A points failure on railway tracks between Truro and Falmouth Docks means that a reduced train service is in place.

    A Devon fire crew has reminded people that bad parking "severely affects" its response times to incidents.

    Totnes Fire Station said on Facebook, external it faced problems during a call-out on Monday night, showing the small gap it had to squeeze through on a road.

    The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service station said: "Parking like this severely affects the time it takes for us to attend incidents which can have dire consequences to those involved."

    The station said people should "please park with consideration" and its advice included:

    • Park close to the kerb
    • Leave enough space for a fire engine or an ambulance to pass
    • Leave extra room near tight corners
    • Fold in wing mirrors

    Some South West employers say they will pay fees for their staff from EU countries to apply to stay in the UK after Brexit.

    The cost of applying to the Home Office EU settlement scheme is £65 per adult, external.

    The NHS in both Devon and Cornwall have confirmed they would meet the costs for their hundreds of EU workers as a symbol of commitment to valued staff.

    The boss of a Cornish software firm is doing the same.

    Headforward company director Toby Parkins said he believed the fee was unfair and "unwise"...

    The government said there were some situations where people would not need to pay the fee, external, including if they had indefinite leave to remain in or enter the UK.
