    A woman from Tavistock has died following after a crash on the M5 in Devon last week, police say.

    The M5 southbound was closed for six hours after the crash near Junction 29 between a car and a lorry at about 05:50 on 14 January.

    Police said, external 22-year-old Kayleigh Gill, who was airlifted from the scene, died on Friday as a result of her injuries.

    Three other occupants of the car and the driver of the lorry sustained minor injuries.

    Police have appealed for witnesses.

    Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley has placed a bid to buy music chain HMV.

    HMV collapsed last month, its second administration in six years, risking 2,200 jobs at 125 stores, including branches in Exeter (pictured), Plymouth and Truro.

    Sports Direct could not be reached for comment and administrators KPMG also declined to comment.

    Mr Ashley owns more than 60% of Sports Direct, and through it he has bought retailers including the House of Fraser department store chain and Evans Cycles.

    His company also owns stakes in French Connection and Debenhams.

    After an epic 20-1 defeat last week, a Cornish football team has suffered another large defeat, but with a much improved result.

    South West Peninsula West side Ludgvan lost 12-1 at home to Bere Alston United at the weekend, but noted it was better than their drubbing by Liskeard Athletic the week before.

    Progress, they said, was slow but steady.

    Ludgvan finished runners-up last season but have struggled to field a side this campaign due to a lack of players. The league have offered their sympathy, saying at least the parish put out a team.

    It is not the biggest defeat ever in the county: Illogan beat Madron 55-0 eight years ago.

    The provision of services for people living in rural parts of Cornwall is declining at the same time as public transport is failing to meet demand, according to a major report launched by Citizens Advice Cornwall.

    The report found that banks, GP surgeries and post offices were not adequately serving their areas.

    However, it added that the rise of internet shopping, banking and ordering prescriptions had made life easier for many and better internet access support for villages is vital.

    People in Cornwall are being urged not to stockpile medicines amid the uncertainty over Brexit.

    Pharmacists in the county say patients are raising concerns about supplies in the event of a no-deal.

    The Department of Health says pharmaceutical companies have been told to make sure they have got six weeks' worth stored away by 29 March.

    Work to fix the sewage pipeline in Mousehole is under way after four separate leaks in seven months.

    A tanker has been taking sewage away because of a fault at the local pumping station but now South West Water has started work.

    The West Cornwall MP, Derek Thomas has welcomed the repairs saying although there will be some disruption to local people, they will have a more reliable and effective sewage system in the future.

    • In Plymouth, Mannamead Road is currently blocked outbound by a three-car collision. All outbound traffic on the Crownhill corridor is being diverted via Torr Lane and Outland Road to Crownhill
    • In Exeter, the A379 Bridge Road is closed in both directions for emergency bridge maintenance work at the Swing Bridge
    • At Tigley, the A385 is now fully open following the recovery of an overturned vehicle earlier which saw the road closed between South Brent and Dartington

    A man has been treated in hospital after a "vicious" glassing attack in Newquay which left him with "significant" facial injuries, police say.

    Officers said the man was struck in the face with a glass during an altercation between him and another man in the Lanherne pub on Ulalia Road at about 22:55 on Friday.

    The offender left the scene before police arrived and the victim was treated for lacerations.

    Sgt Andy Mulhern, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said injuries caused by glassings were "fortunately very rare these days" as Newquay had "come a long way in managing what was once a very challenging night-time economy" in recent years.

    He added: "I am disappointed to have had to deal with this glassing incident."

    Cutting down diseased ash trees could cost the region up to £70m, according to Devon County Council.

    Ash dieback is a fungus that starves trees of water, and leads to leaf loss and, eventually collapse.

    Roadside trees can therefore become dangerous to drivers.

    There are 440,000 ash trees in Devon, but the council will now cut down any where more than half of the canopy has been affected.

    Stargazers have been scanning the skies for sightings of a highly unusual lunar eclipse, which began on Sunday night.

    A suspected torpedo was blown up in a controlled explosion after it was pulled up in nets in South Devon.

    The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, coastguards and police were called to Brixham harbour on Sunday afternoon.

    The breakwater slipway was closed and the area cordoned off.

    The vessel that caught it was taken to deeper water until the EOD team could board the vessel and inspect the ordnance.

    It was then detonated in the middle of Torbay waters, coastguards said.

    They added if anyone does find something that could be ordnance at sea or on the beach, to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.

    A dog that was stuck in a river had to be rescued by firefighters in Devon over the weekend.

    One crew from Newton Abbot used a small extension ladder to rescue the small terrier, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said.

    The A385 is blocked in south Devon by an overturned vehicle.

    Totnes Police said on Facebook , externalofficers were at the scene of the crash at Tigley Cross and had closed the road from Marley Head at South Brent and from the Dartington side of the crash.

    Officers said drivers should avoid the area "as currently it is chaos".

    A 38-year-old man has gone missing from West Cornwall, police have said.

    Adam Dickinson-Knight was last seen walking in the Sancreed area at about 17.30 on Sunday. Police are concerned for his welfare.

    Officers added he is "known to travel long distances on foot".

    He is described as medium build, with reddish-brown curly hair and is unshaven.

    He was last seen wearing a green and blue checked shirt with a grey body warmer, grey cargo shorts and a red Quiksilver baseball cap.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101.
