A memorial to members of the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment is to be placed on Plymouth Hoe.
The small block of polished Devon granite will be the first memorial in the city dedicated to the historic army regiment.
The 30in (76cm) high plinth will be inscribed with the regimental badge and the words: “To fallen comrades and those that have served in The Devon and Dorset Regiment from the Plymouth Branch”.
Plymouth City Council has given permission for the new memorial in front of the monument to Prince Christian Victor of Schleswig-Holstein near the Royal Citadel on the Hoe.
The Devonshire Regiment was one of the forerunners of the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment, known as the Devon and Dorsets, and in recent years the monument has been used as a place of pilgrimage at the annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations.
Dogs on beaches - should they be allowed or not?
It's one of the most contentious issues during the holidays and Cornwall Council wants to hear from the public.
Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) which apply restrictions at certain times of the year for dogs on beaches across Cornwall will expire next April so the council is asking residents for their views before the new restrictions are drawn up.
The current list of beaches with restrictions for dogs, external are on the Council website.
The council will ask whether more or fewer beaches should have restrictions and whether there should be blanket start and finish dates for the restrictions, for example from 1 May to 30 September.
The council will also ask which month the restrictions should start and end, and the times of day the restrictions should be in force.
The consultation, external for dog restrictions on beaches is open until 19 November.

A temporary car park brought in to allow a security upgrade at an entrance to Devonport Dockyard has been allowed for another year.
Permission was granted by Plymouth City Council in May 2018 to use a site known as Table Top Mountain for parking while work was carried out at Camels Head Gate.
The project meant car parks were put out of use as contractors needed the space.
Now a second planning application for 12 months has been approved for the temporary car park.
Parking space for 257 vehicles was created on a mound of crushed concrete excavation waste from redevelopments at the dockyard.
The new permission allows the site to be used for cars and motorcycles between 07:00 and 18:00 for 12 months or until the work at Camels Head Gate is completed if that is sooner.

Plans for turning a former ceramics factory in Colyton into homes are set to be approved.
The CeramTec factory in Colyton closed four years ago and was sold in June 2017 to the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) for an undisclosed sum.
Its scheme for up to 74 new homes, plus up to 1,000 sq m of employment space, is recommended for approval when East Devon District Council’s Development Management Committee meets next Tuesday.
The applicants have proposed that 20% of the homes are affordable, but the parish council wanted 30%.
A report to the meeting said it was "disappointing that a higher level of affordable housing could not be negotiated.
"But the negative landscape impacts could be offset in part by the removal of the unsightly factory buildings and the careful design of the housing which will replace them.
"In addition, the provision of an element of affordable housing, in the context of a significant local need, while not the full amount, would go some way to also offset the contravention of policy."
If approved, then a further application for the details of the scheme would have to be submitted.
