A 'Stop the Coup' protest is planned in Torquay against the decision to suspend Parliament.

Organiser Jack Dart, a Liberal Democrat councillor said the aim was to demonstrate public opposition to the Government's decision.

The move by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to suspend the parliamentary session in September has been seen by critics as a way to avoid MPs trying to block the UK leaving the European Union without a deal on October 31.

The councillor said it would take place from 18:30 outside Torquay Town Hall.

    Quote Message

It is the behaviour of ‘tin-pot’ dictators who are mad with power. They decide to do as they please just so they can get a policy decision passed, so they don’t have to speak to Parliament. It is utterly ludicrous and not acceptable at all.
