    Roads affected are the A30 at Alverton, the A394 between Marazion and Goldsithney, the B3303 at Praze-an-Beeble, the A390 at Union Hill, Truro.

    "Please only travel if absolutely essential, and stay safe," a spokesperson said.

    Some buses around Falmouth, Redruth, Truro and Camborne have been cancelled as the storm causes more disruption on the roads.

    National Highways has issued a severe weather alert for gales, with a significant risk to vehicles using motorways and major A roads in south-west England.

    It warns gusts could reach 75mph (120km/h) on higher ground, particularly on the A30 around Camborne and Bodmin in Cornwall, and other higher-ground in Devon and urged drivers to prepare, external.

    The RAC says drivers should avoid coastal and rural roads - where there is a greater chance of falling trees.

    Devon County Council said: "We are asking all schools to consider the high level of risk presented by this storm."
