    Welcome to our coverage of the 2016 Bournemouth Air Festival. 

    The free event is now in its ninth year and is expected to attract more than one million people to Bournemouth seafront during the weekend.

    This year's line-up includes displays from RAF Typhoon, Royal Navy Black Cats Helicopter Display Team, Tigers Parachute Display Team and The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Also appearing this year are the Swiss Air Force Super Puma Team.

    A few early visitors have already claimed their spot on the beach with deck chairs and windbreaks, ready to get the best view of the flying displays when they get underway later.

    And just offshore in the dead calm waters, beyond the pier, are the Royal Navy vessels here for the duration of the festival.
