Last year was the warmest on record for Europe and the last six years were the hottest across the world. That's according to a new report about the state of the climate, released to coincide with a virtual climate summit of world leaders and the Earth Day campaign. In a special edition of Climate Check, BBC Weather's Sarah Keith Lucas looks at how close the planet is to hitting the 1.5C limit in global warming signed up to by world leaders in the Paris Agreement and what increased temperatures mean for our homes, habitats, and weather.
