    The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, external for fog overnight in Essex.

    Fog patches are expected to form in the early hours of Saturday, becoming dense in some places.

    Drivers are being warned about possible travel disruption and difficult driving conditions.

    A total of 16 people have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after they were found in a lorry in Halstead.

    Essex Police says the ten men and six women were discovered inside the vehicle, which was parked on the Bluebridge Industrial Estate yesterday after reports of voices coming from inside. 

    The force says the group will now be handed over to immigration enforcement officers.

    An assistance dog has been left with puncture wounds in his chest after he was attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier in Clacton.

    Kubuli, a black Labrador, was walking with his owner, who uses a wheelchair, on Monday in Langham Drive when he was bitten by the brownish-coloured dog. 

    Tendring District Council says it is working with the police to trace the Staffordshire bull terrier's owner - who apologised before running off. Kubuli required five stitches and a course of antibiotics.

    Officers were investigating after Kane Reading, 27, was found with serious injuries on the Thurrock Trade Park on 7 February.

    It was thought he'd been involved in a road crash while riding a quad bike.

    More than 6,000 motorist were caught not wearing a seat belt in Essex last year, new figures have revealed.

    Essex Police say many people are still putting their lives at risk by not buckling up - 50 years since the first law on wearing seat belts was passed.

    Nationally, more than 3.3 million drivers were caught in 2015.

    The right arm fast bowler has played for the Australia U17s & U19s in his short career to date.

    Police investigating the murder of convicted conman John "Goldfinger" Palmer say they've had a number of new leads following a Crimewatch appeal last night.

    The 65-year-old was found dead in his back garden in June last year. Officers say the killing had "all the hallmarks" of a professional hit.

    Det Ch Insp Stephen Jennings said the force had a "really positive response" from the public, but are still appealing for more information.

    Pensioner Ronald King looked frail as he entered Chelmsford Crown Court on crutches today. 

    He was helped by two prison officers and told he could remain seated during the 10 minute hearing. 

    He wore a grey coat and top as he pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife.

    Ronald King has been remanded in custody after he denied murdering his wife at her care home. 

    During a brief hearing, which lasted 10 minutes, the 86-year-old of Cedar Close, Walton-on-the-Naze, spoke only to confirm his name and enter his plea. 

    Mr King will stand trial on 4 July. There was no application for bail.
