    Police say a 20-year-old man who was stabbed in a fight involving about 10 people is in a "stable, non life-threatening" condition.

    The fight happened in Smarts Lane car park in Loughton, between 02:20 and 02:40 on Sunday morning.

    Essex Police, external is seeking a 25-year-old man of mixed race who was wearing a white T-shirt and fluorescent trainers.

    As police continue to question an 18-year-old man about a fatal stabbing in Harlow, the victim's friends have been remembering him.

    Father-of-two Hassan Abdi Mohammed, 48, was killed on a path close to Holly Field on 5 March.

    Juma Kharmis, who knew him, said: "We just want to know why. His kids will be orphans and we can't work it out."

    Gilbey said: "You want to go out with a bit of pride. You don't want to roll over and die and we are trying to stay up."

    Basildon snooker player Stuart Bingham, who lost in the final of the World Grand Prix in Llandudno, said he felt like he "had someone else's cue or arm" when he went 4-1 down, adding he was "all over the place".

    Bingham narrowly lost the World Grand Prix final in Llandudno 10-9 to Shuan Murphy last night.

    But Bingham said he was delighted to get back into contention in the final, after a disappointing season since he became world champion last year.

    Surrey Police says it has "agreed to implement recommended changes" to ensure that children like murdered Breck Bednar are "protected".

    It follows an Independent Police Complaints Commission report into the way its control room staff handled a call from the mother of Breck, the 14-year-old from Surrey who was groomed online and lured to Grays where he was murdered by Lewis Daynes, 20.

    Breck's parents have received a payout from Surrey Police and the two parties have agreed to work together to improve training.

    'Prince' Roy Bates set up the Principality of Sealand on a former military platform in international waters seven miles off the East coast back in the 1960s.

    The World War Two veteran was involved in setting up the pirate radio station Radio Essex at a different offshore platform before moving to Roughs Tower, which he renamed Sealand. 

    He declared it as an independent territory in 1967. The tower was built as a platform for anti-aircraft guns during the war.

    Basildon snooker player Stuart Bingham has been looking at the positives after his 10-9 defeat in the final of the World Grand Prix in Llandudno.

    Shaun Murphy got his revenge after losing to Bingham in the World Snooker final in Sheffield last year.

    Bingham said: "The way my season has gone, to get to the final and have a sniff of winning will do me a hell of good for the next tournament."

    A former model who helped turn a war-time fort into a self-proclaimed independent state has died, at the age of 86.

    Joan Bates helped convert the fort into Sealand, off the East coast, with her husband Roy, who died in 2012.

    The tiny state of Sealand is still proudly independent and controlled by the new prince, their son Michael. Today her grandson James Bates confirmed that 'princess' Joan, who no longer lived at Sealand, died at Leigh-on-Sea on Thursday.

    A friend of Harlow stab victim Hassan Abdi Mohammed has been remembering how he saw him just days before he was killed, and honked his car horn at him.

    Juma Kharmis (pictured) said: "We just waved for a few seconds and now thinking about it, it was us saying goodbye. I wish I'd stopped, which is very painful."

    An 18-year-old London man is being questioned by Essex Police as part of the murder inquiry. Mr Mohammed was found stabbed on 5 March.

    The mother of Surrey teenager Breck Bednar, who was murdered after being groomed online and lured to Essex, is working with police to improve training of control room staff.

    Surrey Police has made an undisclosed payout to Lorin LaFave after an inquiry found it failed to deal properly with her fears her son was being groomed.

    She said: "I do want to work with all police forces so I can tell Breck's story - an off-day can cost a life."

    The mother of murdered 14-year-old Breck Bednar is convinced her son would be alive if Surrey Police properly handled a call she made, expressing her fears that her son was being groomed online.

    Lewis Daynes, 20, is serving a life sentence for luring Breck to his home in Grays and killing him. Surrey Police has admitted its training of call centre staff needed improvement and it has made an undisclosed payout to Breck's parents.

    Lorin LaFave, Breck's mother, said: "If that call handler had indeed checked the police national computer like she said she would, I 100% believe that he would be here."

    Surrey Police has agreed to implement changes to improve training after it was found it failed to act on concerns by Breck Bednar's mother that her son was being groomed.

    An independent inquiry found Surrey Police's control room failed to deal with the concerns. Breck was lured to Grays, where Lewis Daynes, 20, killed him.

    A Surrey Police spokesman said it was working with Breck's parents "to ensure appropriate training is given to staff to assist in the prevention of similar crimes against children".

    The mother of online grooming murder victim Breck Bednar has said getting an undisclosed payout from Surrey Police was "another step towards putting this behind me".

    Breck, 14, was murdered by 20-year-old Lewis Daynes in Grays in 2014. His mother, Lorin LaFave, had called Surrey Police to express her concerns that her son was being groomed.

    She said: "I'm happy to actually have this agreement and this day past me. It's sort of.. a rite of passage that you have to go through in a horrible tragedy like this."

    Ms LaFave said: "I think they are making great efforts to get past this, but it needs to be continuous - it can't be a quick fix."
