    Cambridge United manager Shaun Derry says he "can't accept" defending of the standard produced by his side at the weekend. 

    The U's were held to a 1-1 draw at Accrington in League Two. They're five points off the promotion places with six matches remaining.

    Graham Westley has confirmed he'll continue select Peterborough's loan players, despite their season being all but over in League One.

    With seven matches left to play, Posh are 12 points from the play-off places and 13 points away from the relegation zone.

    Martin Samuelsen and Harry Toffolo are on loan with the Posh until the end of the season. Neither featured against Crewe at the weekend.

    A swipe card for rail season ticket holders has been launched on the Cambridge to Liverpool Street line.

    Abellio Greater Anglia is the first regional operator to introduce the South East Flexible Ticketing (SEFT) smartcard, which replaces paper tickets.

    It said the card was more durable and much quicker to use as it could be held to the reader at ticket gates.

    A seal found 60km (37 miles) inland was malnourished and full of bacteria when it died, scientists have said.

    The juvenile common seal had been in a lagoon near Swavesey for "a couple of weeks" before it died on 1 March, scientists said.

    Tests carried out by the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP) found the seal was in "moderate-poor nutritional condition". Its body was recovered from Ferry Lagoon near the River Great Ouse.

    This weekend saw lights being switched off for the first time in many residential areas in Cambridgeshire between 02:00 and 06:00.

    The move will save the county council £170,000 a year, but many residents are concerned about safety.

    Eight-year-old Garfield, who makes the trip to Sainsbury's in Ely in Cambridgeshire on a daily basis, has his own Facebook page created by fans.

    Owner David Willers posted a message asking shoppers to lay off the treats as a vet found Garfield, who weighs 6.6kg (one stone), was overweight. "Everyone loves him," Mr Willers said.

    A previously unseen video of one of Britain's most infamous spies describing his career as a Soviet agent has been uncovered by the BBC.

    The tape is of Kim Philby, one of the infamous "Cambridge Spies", giving a secret lecture to the Stasi, the East German Intelligence Service, in 1981.

    It is the first time the ex-MI6 officer can be seen talking about his life as a spy from his recruitment to his escape. He describes his career rising up the ranks of MI6 whilst providing its secrets to the Soviet Union's KGB.

    Work to lay more than 1km (0.6 miles) of new sewer main starts in Godmanchester today.

    It's expected to lead to delays on roads in the area, with the work on Cow Lane and Cambridge Road due to last until the end of June. 

    Anglian Water, external says the work is needed to bring water recycling services to new homes and apologises for any disruption.

    A farmer is leading a campaign to make his village entirely self-sufficient, with all food produced in Alconbury to be consumed or sold there.

    The Alconbury Community Food Scheme will aim to reduce fruit and veg bills for people living in the village by 15% compared to the average supermarket shop.

    Anthony Davison (pictured) says the scheme will see pupils at Alconbury Primary School, allotment growers and businesses working together with the small village shop to sell the produce at a low cost.

    Men from Cambridgeshire, Essex, Kent, London, the West Midlands and Northern Ireland were convicted of conspiracy to burgle in February, after high-value items including Chinese jade and rhino horn were stolen.

    The hearing is due to take place over two days at Birmingham Crown Court.
