The funeral of Anglican Bishop John Wraw will be held at Chelmsford Cathedral at 13:00.
He died on 25 July - aged 58 - three years after being diagnosed with cancer.
Bishop John said at the time of his installation as Bishop of Bradwell in 2012 that he believed the Church of England needed to "reach out and change society".

He led a project to boost Anglicanism among younger generations and told BBC Essex in his last interview that he wanted same-sex weddings in Anglican churches.
The Bishop of Chelmsford, Stephen Cottrell, said Bishop John was a "wonderful servant of the gospel and a fantastic colleague".
His funeral service is open to the public, though seats will be reserved for family and close friends.
