    A floodded Lottage Road, Aldbourne, Wiltshire.

    In Wiltshire homes have been flooded in Chandlers Lane in Aldbourne, and Isles Road and the bottom of Springs Hill in Ramsbury.

    The floods are continuing to affect the roads in Wiltshire, where there's deep floodwater on Lottage Road in Aldbourne.

    The latest on the roads for Bath and Somerset says the A363 Bradford Road is currently closed between the A4 and Bathford Hill due to flooding.

  5. 'River Frome really affected'published at 11:41 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Ian Withers, from the Environment Agency, said the situation in Somerset was looking drier, but there had been an impact.

    He said: "The River Frome heading towards Bath and the the River Sheppy coming west were really affected.

    "We've got difficulties there, with roads and a few properties flooded."

  6. GWR 'thinning' train service after flooding on networkpublished at 11:37 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    GWR's Paul Gentleman has been on BBC Radio Wiltshire saying the firm has been “having to thin out the train service” today with significant disruption from flooding and a fatality, leaving trains in wrong places.

    The line at Chipping Sodbury - between Bristol Parkway-Swindon - is under a vast amount of water and not getting better despite a vast lagoon built for flood water next door.

    They are expecting disruption there until at least tomorrow morning.

  7. Watch: Trainer's horses rescued from flooded stablespublished at 11:34 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Trainer Paul Nicholls is forced to move his horses overnight because of flooding.

    Four-time champion horse trainer Paul Nicholls, who is based in Ditcheat, Somerset, said he and his staff had to rescue his horses from their flooded stables.

    The animals were led to safety and no-one were hurt.

    He said: "Water was backing up everywhere. One of the yards we've got just started to flood and we had to move half a dozen horses out. They were literally floating around in their boxes.

    "But that's the first time it's happened in 15 years and we were prepared for it so we moved them into some fresh boxes."

    A friend of a resident in Alney Isand, Gloucestershire, is using a garden hose to remove water from this home.

    It is one of three pumps being used to help keep water out of the house.

    Sandbags have been placed in front of the front door to prevent more water coming in.

  9. At the scene: River in Malmesbury 'looks angry'published at 10:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Speaking from Malmesbury, BBC Radio Wiltshire reporter Sophie Parker said:

    "The river running through Malmesbury looks angry and is a lot higher than usual, with the small archways on the old bridge as people come into the town almost obscured by water.

    Much of the housing in the town is next to the river, but there are lots of walkways and fields and these are the places that are mostly flooded. Seagulls and ducks have been enjoying the new water feature on parkland and a pitch next to the river opposite the old silk mills.

    The Malmesbury Victoria football ground has been flooded after rain earlier in the week already and with play already not able to happen there for a number of weeks, it looks set to be even longer."

    Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said that since 4pm yesterday, crews had responded to 10 home and car rescues and one dog rescue.

  12. 'Significant disruption' to train services, says GWRpublished at 10:39 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Great Western Railway warned there is “significant disruption” to its services.

    In an alert to passengers, the operator said: “We’re experiencing significant disruption on the network. Please check before you travel.

    “Flooding and a serious incident near Reading last night, which involved police taking control of the line, has left trains and crew in the wrong place. We’re sorry for the disruption customers experienced.

    “Short-notice cancellations and a reduced level of service on long-distance routes are expected throughout the day.”

    The incident near Reading involved a person being struck by a train.

    Flooding has closed the railway between Swindon and Bristol Parkway, between Reading and Castle Cary, and between Liskeard and Looe.

    The famous Pulteney Weir in Bath has disappeared completely underwater due to floods.

    One shop owner on Pulteney Bridge told the BBC he has "never seen it so high".

  14. 'Worst surface water' seen in 20 years, says council leaderpublished at 09:40 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Wiltshire Council's leader has told the BBC the council took around 100 calls about property flooding overnight.

    He lives to the south of Salisbury and says it is the "worst surface water problem on the roads that I have seen in the 20 years I've lived here".

    It has been, he says, a combination of saturated ground poses questions about how we adapt in future as "appears likely to be an increasingly new normal".

    He added Wiltshire has road closures "all over the place" particularly in the east of the county.

  15. More road closures in 'badly affected' Somersetpublished at 09:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    The Travel Somerset X account is the "Levels and Frome/Shepton Mallet area badly affected" by flooding overnight.

    "There are flooded roads across the county - please do not drive into flood water," they add.

  16. What we know so far - train services across the Westpublished at 09:14 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Here's where we're at with train services across the region at the moment:

    • The train line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway is still blocked - days after it initially closed - with services diverted via Bristol Temple Meads
    • The line between Reading and Taunton is also blocked meaning more diversions for passengers wanting to travel
    • Services between Yeovil Junction and Exeter are also cancelled because of a landslip at Crewkerne
  17. Knee-deep flooding on islandpublished at 08:55 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Elsewhere in Gloucestershire an island on the River Severn in Gloucester - called Alney Island - saw its residents evacuated on Thursday night.

    Pictures show sandbags placed outside of homes and people wading through knee-deep water on a flooded street.

    Gloucester City Council advised people to go to GL1 Leisure Centre.

    The island is managed by the city council as a nature reserve which is open to the public.

    The Environment Agency has warned its biggest area of concern in Wiltshire is Bradford-on-Avon, which may be first to be upgraded to a severe flood warning.

    More disruption and road closures are expected, with real risk of homes and businesses being flooded.

    This is the scene currently in Bradford-on-Avon.

    He's been up there with the Reverend Cannon Nick Davies, Vicar of Tewkesbury Abbey.

    You can see how the town - which badly flooded in 2007 - is surrounded by flood water.
