    People at a care home in Dorset were put at risk by not having the correct medicines at the correct dose or times, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has revealed.

    London Care in Rossmore Road, Poole, has been put into special measures after its first ever inspection was called amid concerns about the service.

    The home is one of two in the South region to be rated "inadequate".

    Abbeygate in Winchester, Hampshire - which is run by Safequarter - says it will close next month following an unannounced inspection which put it in special measures.

    A Reading storage warehouse is being searched after a suspected rat infestation which ruined a couple's possessions.

    Neil and Emma Griffiths are now trying to see if any of the items can be saved.

    The storage company, Shurguard, says it is "very sorry" items of sentimental value were damaged, adding its clients are insured as "the unexpected can happen".

    An emergency meeting has been held about two surgeries in Basingstoke.

    The town's MP Maria Miller met with NHS leaders following a number of complaints about Beggarwood and Rooksdown.

    Ms Miller said there was a "lack of consistency of care" and "difficulty getting appointments".

    Cedar Medical Limited - which runs the surgeries - was approached for comment by the BBC.

    North Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group says its working with the surgeries to help them improve.

    Winchester Cathedral, her burial place, can also be seen on the note in a gold-coloured foil over a see-through

    The new polymer note replaces the paper £10 note, with the portrait of naturalist Charles Darwin, which will still be accepted in the shops until Spring 2018.

    A police sergeant has been sacked from Thames Valley Police after punching a man in custody four times in the head.

    Colin Travi was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour at a misconduct hearing in Kidlington.

    A panel heard that the incident took place after a man was brought into Abingdon police station's custody suite on 18 August last year.

    NHS bosses are pressing ahead with plans to shut Poole's A&E in favour of a major emergency hub at Bournemouth.

    The move is one of a raft of measures by Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) aimed at avoiding a projected funding shortfall of £158m by 2021.

    The final recommendations, released earlier, are due to be approved by the CCG's governing body next Wednesday.

    A car fire on the M40 has been causing long delays for drivers heading southbound.

    Two lanes are closed between Thame and Watlington, leading to congestion back to Oxford services (Junction 8A).
