    A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in a park.

    The victim suffered a "puncture wound to his torso" during the attack in Kidwells Park, Maidenhead, at about 19:15 BST on Monday.

    He was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening and remains in a stable condition, Thames Valley Police said.

    A 33-year-old from Maidenhead has been arrested and is in police custody.

    A council is facing "multimillion-pound" legal action from developers after the sale of a former office building fell through.

    Acorn is bringing the case against Weymouth & Portland Borough Council over its North Quay offices which Acorn intended to turn into flats.

    The two sides are in disagreement over whether planning assurances were given prior to the £4.5m sale.

    The council said it had launched its own legal action against Acorn to recover its costs over the failed deal.

    The offence took place on Wootton Road in Abingdon on 19 September, police said.

    Racist comments have been directed at a 14-year-old girl on a street in Oxfordshire, police have said.

    It happened as the girl walked along Wootton Road in Abingdon at about 08:00 BST on Tuesday 19 September.

    Police want to speak to two white men aged about 40 and 45, and a white women aged about 40.

  6. Gosport charity bus torched in apparent arson attackpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    A charity which was in the process of transforming a minibus destroyed in a suspected arson attack into a sensory bus has vowed to continue the project.

    The minibus, donated to charity Marvels and Meltdowns, was parked in Mill Lane, Gosport when it was torched on Sunday.

    Tricia Lyons, co-founder of the charity, said she was now "even more determined to do it".

    Police are trying to trace three youths seen acting suspiciously in the area before the fire broke out.

    A swan has been shot and had its neck rung in what a charity said was the worst attack it had seen in 25 years.

    An animal rescuer found the dead bird after being sent to Blake's Lock on the River Kennett in Reading on Monday.

    Wendy Hermon, from Swan Support, said: "The poor thing was shot in the head and its neck was literally snapped in two."

    Thames Valley Police confirmed it had been reported and asked for witnesses to come forward.

    A medical student who avoided jail after stabbing her boyfriend in the leg with a bread knife will now face a student disciplinary panel to decide her future at Oxford University.

    Lavinia Woodward, 24, was given a 10-month suspended prison sentence for the attack which happened after she had been drinking and taking drugs at Christ Church College.

    The university said the outcome of the disciplinary process cannot be pre-judged.

    Protests have taken place after community groups accused a council of wanting to sell its "spiritual home".

    Reading Central Club, which features a black history mural, has been shut since 2006 - prompting the council to invite bids from non-profit groups.

    The 100 demonstrators argued the mural, and therefore the contribution of black people in the town, is under threat.

    Reading council claimed "misinformation" was blocking a "sensible discussion" with residents.
