    E-fits have been released of two teenagers police want to speak to in connection with an assault in Ringwood.

    A 42-year-old man was left needing hospital treatment after being attacked by up to six people on Southampton Road, near the main bridge over the A31, at about 19:30 on 12 October.

    Police said the suspects were believed to be aged between 13 and 16 years old.

    Burglars used a baseball bat to attack a man and two teenage children during an aggravated burglary in Dorchester, police have said.

    The two male offenders, who were both wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered, forced their way into the property in Cambridge Road shortly after midnight on Monday.

    The three victims were taken to hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises.

    It is believed nothing was taken from the property.

  3. Distraction burglaries 'may be linked'published at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2017

    Two distraction burglaries targeting elderly women in Hampshire might be linked, police have said.

    An 89-year-old in Worthing Avenue, Gosport, and an 83-year-old in Clifton Road, Lee-on-the-Solent, were asked for access to their gardens before their handbags were taken on Sunday and Monday respectively.

    Hampshire police said in both burglaries the offender was described as a 5ft 6ins white man with a stocky build.

    Shots were fired through the front door of a flat in a targeted attack in Maidenhead, police have said.

    Police said four men attempted to break into the property, which is part of a block on Bridge Road and Oldfield Road, at about 15:30 GMT on Friday.

    A man in his 20s was taken to hospital and has since been discharged, Thames Valley Police said.

    Det Insp Stuart Brangwin said: “At this stage we believe that this was a targeted attack and there is no danger to the wider public."

    He added that extra officers have been patrolling the area to provide reassurance to the community.

    A CCTV image has been released of four men police want to speak to in connection with a burglary in a Hampshire village.

    The force said a house on Old Stoke Road in Stoke Charity, near Winchester, was targeted at some point between 18:00 and 18:20 on Friday.

    Det Con Alex Hall said: “Although masked, you may still know who the people in these images are. Did you see them in the area, in a nearby village or in a vehicle?"

    A council leader faces a no-confidence vote after claims he forwarded a pornographic video to colleagues.

    Slough Borough Council chief Sohail Munawar was suspended by the Labour Party after complaints from fellow councillors.

    The Sun, which published details of the graphic footage, external, said Mr Munawar told the paper he had been tricked by a "scammer or virus".

    Mr Munawar has not replied to the BBC's requests for comment.

    Police investigating an assault which left a man with a life-threatening head injury have made a second arrest.

    The 23-year-old victim was punched near the Parchment Makers pub in West Street, Havant, at about 23:45 GMT on 4 November.

    He remains in hospital with life-changing injuries, Hampshire detectives said.

    A 33-year-old Havant man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. He has been released pending further inquiries.

    Previously police released a 41-year-old Portsmouth man without charge.

  9. Non-striking rail workers 'bullied'published at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2017

    Two staff members have been suspended amid claims rail workers who worked during a recent strike are being bullied by colleagues.

    Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) walked out earlier this month in a dispute over driver-only operated (DOO) trains.

    Staff at South Western Railway's (SWR) Bournemouth train crew depot have said those who did not strike have come under "sustained pressure" since.

    The RMT said it was investigating.

    In the Championship, struggling Reading take on the second-bottom side Bolton Wanderers.

    There is also a 'South Derby' this evening in the National League, as Maidenhead travel to Eastleigh.

    The fossilised skeleton of a plesiosaur discovered on the Jurassic Coast has sold at auction for more than £90,000.

    The extinct marine reptile, which was found in Lyme Regis, Dorset, is 90% complete.

    It was expected to fetch up to £30,000 but sold for £92,280 at Summers Place Auctions, Billinghurst, West Sussex earlier.

    In 1823, the first complete skeleton of a plesiosaur was discovered in the seaside resort by famous fossil hunter Mary Anning.

    The Met Office has issued a weather warning for wind for Wednesday and Thursday.

    The warning covers much of the country, with outbreaks of heavy rain also forecast.

    Dorset's coroner is trying to track down the next of kin of a 56-year-old man who died at his Bournemouth home.

    John Gill was found dead at a property in Suffolk Road on Friday.

    Coroner’s officer Nikki Muller said she wanted anybody with information to get in touch as soon as possible.

    She added: “We are not treating the death as suspicious, however we have not been able to locate his next of kin."

    London Irish centre Johnny Williams and back row Max Northcote-Green have signed new contracts with the Premiership club.

    Academy graduate Williams, 21, represented England Under-20s when they won the Junior World Cup in 2016.

    Northcote-Green, 23, is in his second season at the club and scored two tries against former club Bath earlier this month in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

    Under-18s could be banned from a music festival in a bid to reduce crime at the event.

    Police have asked Portsmouth City Council to increase the minimum entry age for Mutiny in the Park in Cosham from 16 after reports of sex assaults, drug use and fighting.

    Hampshire Constabulary said children as young as 13 gained entry to the 2017 event.

    Organiser Luke Betts said revised entry procedures had already been devised.
