    Portsmouth results

In Portsmouth, the UKIP vote appears to have collpsed and it's a question of where that vote has gone.

In the first ward to be declared, the Lib Dems have topped the poll.

But the Conservatives are claiming the Lib Dem vote has plummeted in some of their long-held council seats.

  2. Gosport takes part in Voter ID pilot.published at 00:44 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Peter Henley
    Political editor, South of England

Half the seats are up for election, and this is one of the Voter ID pilot areas.

Most of the wards have large majorities so big changes are unlikely.

There's a UKIP seat up for grabs in Rowner & Holbrook.

Liberal Democrats will be looking to hold on to second place - it will be interesting to see if Labour pushes them into third.

  3. Havant: What will happen to UKIP vote?published at 00:40 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Peter Henley
    Political editor, South of England

Conservatives should remain dominant on Havant Borough Council - they currently hold 29 seats.

The question is whether UKIP, who have four seats, will lose their representation.

  4. Can Lib Dems improve in Oxford City?published at 00:40 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Peter Henley
    Political editor, South of England

    Oxford

Labour will hold the majority on Oxford City Council, but again it will be important to see if the Lib Dems can improve on 2014 performance. Layla Moran took Oxford West for the Lib Dems in last year's general election.

So will the Lib Dems improve from their 2014 low point? Before the Coalition they were very strong competitors here - the council was under No Overall Control between 2000 and 2010.

  5. Conservatives hold West Oxfordshirepublished at 00:38 British Summer Time 4 May 2018
    Breaking

The Conservatives have held West Oxfordshire District Council, despite losing two seats to the Lib Dems

  6. Conservatives hold Havantpublished at 00:35 British Summer Time 4 May 2018
    Breaking

The Conservatives have held Havant Borough Council.

Defending a majority of 20, they were always likely to remain the dominant party.

  7. Basingstoke and Deane: Tories defend six-seat majoritypublished at 00:31 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Peter Henley
    Political editor, South of England

The Conservatives are only defending seven seats and most have big majorities so they should be safe.

Labour has never held this council, but they have been campaigning hard this time.

The authority was under overall control between 1994 and 2007.

  8. Early results from West Oxfordshirepublished at 00:27 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

A few early results coming in from West Oxfordshire. The Conservatives are dominant here and it's mathematically impossible for them to lose their majority.

  9. Ballot boxes arrive in Eastleighpublished at 00:26 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Luke De Costa
    BBC Radio Solent reporter

It's that time in the evening when there is a lot of lugging ballot boxes around.

Here in Eastleigh there are more boxes than at most other counts - because of boundary changes, all the seats on the council have been contested.

  10. All seats up for grabs in Eastleighpublished at 00:23 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Hannah Bewley
    Reporter, BBC Radio Solent

The Lib Dems will be looking to reaffirm their dominance in Eastleigh – they've held the council since 1994, but they lost the parliamentary seat to the Tories in 2015.

Boundary changes mean all seats are up for election but the Lib Dems will be looking to return another large majority.

Eastleigh could give a good indication of how well the party is doing under Vince Cable’s leadership.
