With Flybe accounting for 90% of all flights from Southampton, the airline's £2.2m takeover by Virgin Atlantic will be keenly felt.
But it's hard to see what interest Virgin would have in the Southampton business.
Virgin does long haul from Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester. It will want to use Flybe to feed that core business.
A few weeks ago Flybe shares were worth 30p each. Today they're worth 1p.
The new owners will make an immediate cash injection of £20m to keep the planes in the air because Flybe is losing £7,000 every hour.
An industry executive told me Virgin really wanted Flybe's valuable landing slots at Heathrow. But from the passenger's perspective it means the airline survives - and today has been business as usual.
So what now for Southampton Airport? It plans to extend its runway slightly at the northern end. That is all about making the tarmac long enough to take larger, fully laden EasyJet planes.
I reckon they will be trying very hard to get more orange aircraft landing here as soon as possible.
Building work will start on Ascot's new Heatherwood Hospital next week.
The £98m facility should be fully operational by late 2021.
At a board meeting of the Frimley Hospital Trust it was announced the new hospital will replace the current one which has stood on the site for almost a century.
Tim Yeo, medical director for the trust, said the plans for the new hospital included six new operating theaters and 48 new beds.

Concerns have been raised about Bracknell council's ability to retain children's social workers.
It comes after it emerged other authorities have been poaching staff from Bracknell by offering them more money to work for their children's services.
Sonia Johnson, assistant director of children's social care at Bracknell Forest Council, told councillors at a meeting that a social worker had resigned earlier that day after another had stepped down in 2018.
She said: "One of the challenges we are going to face is that the trusts in Slough and Reading are not capping what they pay their social workers."

Building work on Ascot's new £98m hospital will get under way on Monday, replacing the current Heatherwood Hospital, which is almost 100 years old.
Plans to rebuild Heatherwood were first revealed in 2014 and, while most welcomed the idea, there was deep disquiet that the project would also see more than 200 homes built there.
Hospital bosses said that without the money they will get for selling off land for the homes they wouldn't be able to afford this new facility.
Planning permission was finally granted in 2017 and the diggers will move in next week.
The new hospital will come complete with six operating theatres and will open within the next three years.

Refurbished trains to improve services between Portsmouth and London are being delayed.
South Western Railway (SWR) has been upgrading the fleet of 30 year old Class 442 Wessex Electric trains - nicknamed "plastic pigs" - at Eastleigh.
They were due to start carrying passengers last autumn as one of SWR's core franchise commitments. The train operator now says they won’t start running before late February.
Engineers found the carriages were more seriously corroded than expected, and Network Rail has also uncovered issues with clearing the trains to use the route.
