    The parents of children who use a respite centre in Hereford say they have been left with no choice but to consider taking it over and running it themselves. 

    No.1 Ledbury Road, which is run by the county's hospital trust and the council, was threatened with closure before being temporarily shut due to staffing issues, then re-opening for fewer days a week.

    Paul Gilk, whose son Andrew has autism and uses the centre, says some parents are struggling even more than him.

    People living in the Cheaton Close area of Leominster fear someone is going to be seriously injured if repairs are not completed to potholes "the size of paddling pools" in their parking areas. 

    Councillor Rumsey sweeps potholes

    Councillor John Rumsey, from the town council, has been trying to tackle them himself with his broom. 

    Stonewater Housing, which is responsible for the car parks concerned, said it was aware of the issue concerning potholes around Cheaton Close and the problem was "being addressed".

    Worcestershire County Council is spending £4m over two years to repair 60,000 potholes.

    I went out with the repair crew from the county's highways team at Meadow Road in Worcester this morning.

    The work did not take long, but the Asphalt Industry Alliance say the average cost of repairing each pothole is £45.

    Worcestershire batsman, Tom Fell, has revealed he has had surgery for testicular cancer.

    He is hoping that, by going public over his own experiences, this will encourage other men who have nagging doubts to get themselves checked out, external at their local GP. 

    As for Tom himself, he is now back in pre-season training with Worcestershire and is hoping to play in Australia for three months.

    The numbers of one of the UK's most threatened butterflies have almost trebled in a forest in Worcestershire. 

    There's been a dramatic increase in the pearl-bordered fritillary population in new locations throughout the Wyre Forest, with 12 new sites identified last year alone.

    Dr Jenny Joy, from the Butterfly Conservation Society in the West Midlands, said without sites like the Wyre Forest these species could become extinct.

    Worcestershire's Tom Fell is given the go-ahead to play next season after revealing he had testicular cancer surgery.

    Fell, who was the county's top scorer in the County Championship in 2015, had an operation in October after a tumour was discovered.

    Around £4m will have been spent by next April on repairing some 60,000 potholes across Worcestershire over the past two years. 

    Across the West Midlands, there is a £70m budget shortfall to fill in all the holes with a nine-year maintenance backlog to do all the work.
