  2. Harrier's manager apologises to fanspublished at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Kidderminster Harriers' acting manager Colin Gordon has apologised to fans after his side's 3-2 defeat at Torquay.

    Harriers were 2-0 down at half-time, conceding a goal to former player Nathan Blissett, before managing to draw level. Kelvin Langmead then headed in before Arthur Gnahoua shot home the equaliser.

    But Torquay's Nathan Smith scored a controversial winner eight minutes from time, appearing to punch the ball into the net.

    Former Harriers striker Blissett's goal was his fourth in six games since arriving on loan from Bristol Rovers.  

    Harriers are now 11 points off 20th-placed Boreham Wood with nine games left.

    Schools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire could soon be getting more money, after plans to tackle uneven levels of funding were announced by the Education Secretary.

    Nicky Morgan has started a consultation on changing the funding formula, which has traditionally given more money per pupil to inner city schools compared to ones in more rural areas.

    Headteachers in the two counties have long argued that the current setup is unfairly balanced towards the big cities. 

  4. Npower staff to find out their futures tomorrowpublished at 12:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    We've got an update on today's announcement that energy firm Npower is to shed around 2,500 jobs.

    The company currently has offices in Worcester. Staff there have been told this morning they'll find out tomorrow if their jobs will be affected by the restructuring.

    Npower employs more than 600 staff in the city, in finances, communications and energy services. Until recently its headquarters were also here.   

  5. Second time lucky for Chateau Impney racer?published at 11:50 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Nearly 50 years after coming first in a Hill Climb race at Worcestershire's Chateau Impney, a Droitwich man is hoping to finally record a win on the course.

    David West was just 19 when he became a last-minute replacement in the final of the famous Chateau Impney Sprint's in 1967.

    Despite winning his class, the win was never recorded in the record books, as officials hadn't been told of the change. 

    David is now hoping to win a sprint at this summer's Hill Climb.

  7. Pupils raise money for river rescue boatpublished at 11:24 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Pupils from Hereford Cathedral School presented West Mercia Search and Rescue with a new boat this morning, after raising the money to buy the vessel. 

    The search and rescue team, made up of volunteers, are on-call 24-hours a day to respond alongside the emergency services.

    Two disgraced nurses from Worcestershire are making thousands of pounds a week illegally prescribing Botox to patients.

    Despite both former nurses having been ordered to stop practising, the two men have been staging "Botox parties" in homes and beauty salons.

    James Kearsey advertises his services via Facebook and also describes himself as a nurse.

    In November 2015, James Kearsey was suspended by the Nursing and Midwifery Council after hiding a conviction for assault from his bosses.

    At his home in Stourbridge he told our reporter he was a nurse consultant - "the same level as a doctor" - and that he makes thousands of pounds training others.

    He sterilised her forehead and prepared to inject her before she told him she felt sick and left.

    Worcester Warriors Director of Dean Ryan says his side's narrow 15-14 win away at Newcastle Falcons on Friday night is "a relief".

    The result secured their first Premiership away win in two years and temporarily eased their relegation fears.

    Worcester's last Premiership away victory was also at Kingston Park when they won 17-12 in March 2014 - and this is their first-ever league double over the Falcons.  

    Speaking after the match to BBC Hereford & Worcester, Dean Ryan said: "I'm just pleased for the lads. They had the courage to go out play for the win.

    "To come back from that late try and get a result says a lot about this team."

    The energy firm Npower - which employs about 600 people in Worcester - says it is going to reduce its British workforce by more than a fifth

    The German-owned energy company is one of the biggest gas and electricity suppliers in the UK but has been losing customers and money.

    Unions have reacted with dismay to the news. Unison called the job losses a devastating blow. Unite said the news was "a complete shock".

    A BBC Hereford & Worcester investigation has uncovered the two men staging "Botox parties" in homes and beauty salons for people desperate to banish wrinkles.

    The Nursing and Midwifery Council, external (NMC) is investigating the BBC's findings.
