    Worcestershire County Cricket Club have been exonerated of any blame after the club's opening Specsavers County Championship match of the season against Kent was washed out without a ball being bowled.

    The chairman of the Cricket Discipline Committee, Gerard Elias QC, has cleared the ground staff of any wrongdoing

    He pointed out that Worcestershire trained on the ground the day before the scheduled start of the game, so they were under the clear impression there would be no problem. 

    Mr Elias determined there were no grounds for any further action.

    The controversial closure of a county maternity ward will carry on until at least next year, external - with health bosses ruling out a "reversal".

    The county council is considering bringing in mobile classrooms to increase capacity at two popular primary schools in Worcester.

    Northwick Manor Primary (pictured) is the most over-subscribed school in Worcestershire, while the neighbouring Claines Primary is close behind.

    The council says it is considering if one or both of the schools could be expanded using mobile classrooms to cope with the "bulge" in demand.

    The mobile classroom would remain in place for six years specifically to accommodate this large year group, and would provide 30 additional places in the catchment area.

    Hereford FC take on Stourport Swifts in the Midlands League Cup semi-final at Edgar Street tonight.

    The Bulls lead 1-0 from the first leg at Walshes Meadow, thanks to John Mills's strike and a late penalty save from goalkeeper Martin Horsell.

    Hereford will be presented with the Midland Football League Championship trophy immediately following the game against Stourport after they clinched the league title with a 4-0 win at Coventry Sphinx on Monday, 25 April.

    A "well respected" senior consultant's resignation from a Worcestershire trust is "cause for concern", according to a group representing local GPs.

    There are delays of up to 30 minutes on trains between Shrewsbury and Hereford after a lorry hit a barrier at Onibury.

    The line has now been reopened, but delays could last until 17:00.

  12. Watch: Man filmed 'keying' dozens of carspublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 28 April 2016

    A vandal has been caught on CCTV using a key to damage dozens of cars at a Worcestershire dealership.

    Cars at the garage on Alcester Road in Wythall were vandalised last Thursday.

    The owner, Mark Edginton, says he can't imagine why anyone would want to target them. 

  13. Man's body found in north Worcestershire 'unexplained'published at 15:35 British Summer Time 28 April 2016

    The death of a man, whose body was found on a street in Kings Norton this morning, is being treated as "unexplained".

    West Mercia Police say, external he was discovered in the Middle Lane area at about 10:00.

    Officers are now trying to identify the man, who is thought to be in his 40s, and confirm how he died.

    Herefordshire Paralympian Sascha Kindred must wait to see if he will get a place in British team.  

    He suffered a big setback in his bid to compete at a sixth Paralympics, after failing to make the qualifying standard on the final day of the British Para-Swimming trials.

    Clubs and community groups in Herefordshire can apply for grants to help them to look after the county's green spaces, external

    Herefordshire Council have transferred a number of parks, woods and open spaces to public groups as a cost-cutting measure and they're keen to see more places being taken over by local people. 

    Groups can apply for funds of up to £750 to help with projects, maintenance and ways of tidying up public areas.
