The new chief constable of West Mercia Police has been talking about mergers, while on a tour of Worcester.
His force is currently involved in what is described as a "strategic alliance" with Warwickshire, which means they share some resources.
Anthony Bangham doesn't believe there will be a full merger, although he admitted it is not really within is power to make that decision.

Eight men have been arrested after a fight at Birmingham railway station last night in which one man was taken to hospital with a head injury, police say.
British Transport Police say they arrested the men, who were aged between 28 and 60., external
The men boarded the train at Worcester Foregate Street at around 19:30 and got off Birmingham's University station after a brawl broke out on the train and spilled onto the platform at about 20:00.
The head injuries the man sustained are not thought to be life threatening, police say.

The new chief constable of West Mercia Police has ruled out any possibility of a full merger with the Warwickshire force.
The two forces formed a strategic alliance three years ago to help make savings.
The new man in charge Anthony Bangham says there is "absolutely no likelihood" of a merger and they must keep their own identities.

A Worcestershire man has criticised how slow local mental health services were to respond, after he contacted them and said he was thinking of taking his own life.
Between 10 June and 10 July 136 people either failed a drink driving test, or refused to be tested across the West Mercia area - that was around 10% of those stopped by the police.
Another 93 people failed the new drugs test in the same period.
The force said it ran its annual drink driving campaign later than normal this year, to coincide with Euro 2016 and believes the numbers show the message is getting through.
An independent inquiry will look into why a hospital trust had a backlog of 11,000 X-ray results.

Here's the least surprising news of the day - the former Deputy Chief Constable of West Mercia, Anthony Bangham, has been confirmed as the new Chief Constable, as expected.
Earlier, the West Mercia Police and Crime Panel met to ratify the choice of the Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion.
