    During August police received 23 reports of thefts from cars and vans in the Bransholme and Kingswood areas of Hull.

    Just after midnight this morning, it's believed a group of men assaulted a man who was cycling along Morpeth Street in an attempt to steal his bike.

    A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery and the 41-year-old victim has been taken to hospital. Police are appealing for witnesses.

    Northern Rail has reduced the cost of travelling on the Hull to Bridlington line and the line which serves Brigg. 

    Northern Rail introduced the price reductions last Sunday in a move to standardize return fares across its network.

    Humberside Police is to recruit 51 new officers to tackle crime in five "high demand" areas.

    The force will take on 17 new PCs, 30 police community support officers (PCSOs) and four sergeants.

    Funding for the recruitment, said to cost £8.1m over the next five years, will come from the force's reserves, Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Keith Hunter said.

    A new report into Drax Power Station says the plant contributed nearly half a billion pounds to the Yorkshire and Humber economy last year.

    The report commissioned by the company which operates the plant, also suggests the site has substantially improved its environmental credentials. 

    The power station provides around 8% of the UK's electricity supply.

    The Labour MP for Great Grimsby says workers' rights must be protected as Britain prepares to leave the EU. 

    In Parliament today, Melanie Onn will suggest there should be a new bill to maintain current laws.

    It's been revealed this morning there are plans for a new ice rink, restaurants, shops and housing alongside a new stadium for Grimsby Town. 

    The club's announced, external it's working with developer Extreme Leisure on the plans for a site off the Peaks Parkway.
