    Hull is currently playing host to the HIP Photography Festival, external in venues across the city. 

    We thought it would be nice to go along and take a look and spread the word about what's on offer. 

    You can see world class photographs at a church, a café bar, libraries and Princes Quay Shopping Centre for the rest of the month.

    One acclaimed photographer who's been visiting the city and doing workshops for amateurs is Matt Hart. 

    He's excellent at capturing "street life". 

    Who know's - he might picture the odd orange barrier while he's here.

  2. East Yorkshire MP supports calls to block wind farm extensionpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 19 October 2016

    An East Yorkshire MPs is supporting calls to stop four wind turbines being built in Withernwick.

    There are currently nine wind turbines in the village and the company Energiekontor want to build four more. 

    The Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart, external says the local authority has already blocked the proposals but he wants to make sure the plans don't go ahead.

  4. Shops, restaurants, housing? What should the new Albion Square area look like?published at 11:28 British Summer Time 19 October 2016

    We're asking what would you do with the Albion Street site in Hull?

    It's because plans were approved yesterday to develop the area which will become known as Albion Square... but there's no real idea of what it will actually look like or what will be put there.

    All we know is it could become a new shopping and leisure area.

  5. Plans for run-down part of Hull will take shape next summerpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 19 October 2016

    Despite being given the green light, Hull City Council say there are no clear plans to develop a run-down part of the city that will be know as Albion Square.

    The site outside the old BHS building will include the Co-Op buildings behind it and part of the Albion Street car park.

    Parts of it have been out of use since World War Two.

    I've been out to meet legendary boxer and son of a greengrocer, Tommy Coyle.  

    He's at a careers event, external in Hull today to encourage young people to make the most of the opportunities available to them.

    The schoolchildren from Hull and East Yorkshire will be putting on their scrubs and going into theatre today at Hull Royal Infirmary so they can see what its like to work in a hospital.

    The MacMillan Wolds community ward has been open many years and is staffed by GPs. 

    But East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group, external says it wants to close the ward and move the facilities to Beverley. 

    It's believed to be a cost-cutting measure. 

    The local health watchdog the Bridlington Health Forum is unhappy.

  10. Travis Perkins closing branches amid 'uncertain UK outlook'published at 08:51 British Summer Time 19 October 2016

    The UK's biggest builders merchant, Travis Perkins, which has seven branches in our area, is closing 30 branches, putting 600 jobs at risk.

    The company, which employs 28,000 people across its 2,060 stores, said it was taking the steps due to an "uncertain UK outlook" for next year.

    Profits will also be lower than expected this year, external due to weak sales in its plumbing and heating division.

    The firm is closing branches of Travis Perkins, Benchmarx, BSS and PTS, but not its DIY store Wickes.
