    A tube strike, due to start on Sunday, has been suspended.

    The RMT had called the action in a row over job cuts and plans to close ticket offices.

    The Transport Salaried Staff's Association (TSSA) had already said it wouldn't take part in the action.

    The walkout was due to start at 18:00 GMT.

    Two workers had to be rescued from the roof of an oil refinery after a large fire broke out inside the storage facility on the Kent-London border.

    Six fire engines and 35 firefighters are tackling the blaze after being called to the refinery on Manorway in Erith at 13:10 GMT.

    London Fire Brigade says the three-storey building contains two oil refinery cylinders.

    The cause of the blaze is not currently known.

    Two men had escaped from the ground floor of the building before fire crews arrived.

    The RMT union has agreed to meet Southern Rail next week, in the long-running dispute over driver-only operated trains.

    Aslef members are due to vote on an agreement reached with the operator yesterday.

    Two men sentenced to a total of 40 years for trying to smuggle £2.4m of cocaine in an aircraft from the Netherlands to Rochester Airport.

    Dutch pilot John Buwalda was sentenced to 23 years, while Jan Polak was given 17 years. They were accused of bringing the drug into Kent by light aircraft.  

    Mr Buwalda, from Hilversum, was found in a bathroom, while his co-defendant was arrested outside a Holiday Inn, the Old Bailey was told.

    National Crime Agency (NCA) officer Jim McMorrow told the court the co-defendant Jan Polak, of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, was found to be carrying 48lb (22kg) of cocaine when he was arrested outside the hotel near Rochester Airport.

    An innocent by-stander who witnessed an assault and came to the aid of the victim, was turned on and beaten himself.

    It is reported a man in his 30s working in security at a bar in Castle Hill Avenue, Folkstone, was attacked by two men. 

    Another man standing nearby tried to intervene, and was also reportedly assaulted by one of the two men.

    A 17-year-old man from Folkestone has been arrested and bailed and police are now calling for witnesses to come forward.

    One of the men, said to be involved in both assaults, is described as white, 5ft 11in, of slim build, with floppy ginger hair and wearing a white and blue checked shirt, jeans and trainers. 

    It was around 23:50 GMT on Saturday 28 January.
