    Three people have been arrested after a toddler was mauled and bitten by a pit-bull type dog. 

    The little girl, who's thought to be around 18 months old, is in hospital with very serious injuries after being attacked in Chatham yesterday afternoon.

    The dog was shot dead by police.

    Medway Council is to cut its budget for providing transport to school for children with special educational needs. 

    It'll mean children younger than five will miss out on funding. 

    It follows Kent County Council's decision to also cut its budget.

    You're being reminded by Kent Police to keep your doors and windows secure during the sunny weather. 

    It follows a distraction burglary in Ramsgate, on 30 March. 

    A woman in her 80s reported that she answered the front door to a woman who was asking if gardening work was available. 

    Shortly after, the victim realised her handbag containing cash, bank card and other personal items, was missing from inside the house.

    The woman was described as being white, aged between 40 to 50 years old, with a spotty complexion. 

    Officers would also like to identify a man who was reported to be in the area at the time, described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40 years old, of a medium build and with dark hair.

    Kent Police has confirmed that the force received a call from a member of the public minutes before a toddler was attacked by a dog in Chatham. 

    A Kent Police spokesman said: "Kent Police received a call at 17:10 BST on Tuesday 4 April 2017 regarding a dog which was pulling its handler around in a park in Jenkins Dale, Chatham. 

    "The caller stated the dog was on a lead.

    "There was no information during this call that the dog was behaving aggressively or was of a dangerous breed as described under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

    "Local patrols were tasked following this call and, as attendance was being arranged, the report of a child being injured was received."

    A third person has been arrested after a young girl was bitten by a dog in Chatham yesterday.

    The woman from Chatham is being held along with a man and a teenager, both from the town, who were arrested under the Dangerous Dogs Act after yesterday's incident. 

    The toddler remains in a hospital with serious injuries, but police say these are no longer described as life threatening.

    Council officials investigating fly-tipping on the site of a disused pub have released CCTV of men they want to speak to.

    Tonnes of rubbish has been dumped at the Share and Coulter site in Owls Hatch Road, Greenhill.

    Even though the land is privately owned, Canterbury City Council has spent thousands of pounds clearing the site over the past year because of the impact it was having on nearby residents.
