People trapped in their homes by flash flooding in Tunbridge Wells saw fire crews called out more in 60 times in the space of an hour.

At the height of the thunderstorm, between 02:30 and 03:30 BST, callers stated there was up to a metre of water in some properties.

Two who called to say they were trapped were uninjured when firefighters arrived and no rescues were required.

In the worst hit areas, crews pumped out the water and called on the Red Cross and local housing providers for extra assistance.

The water subsided by around 04:30 BST and the fire service scaled back its response, remaining only where flood water still needed pumping out of peoples homes.
