    The boss of a hospital trust in Kent has resigned.

    Matthew Kershaw left his post as chief executive of the East Kent Hospitals Trust today.

    The trust runs hospitals in Margate, Ashford, Canterbury, Dover and Folkestone.

    Despite a number of improvements across the trust its A&E department is currently the worst performing emergency department in England.

    Schools across the South East have been told how their funding will be calculated by the government.

    The new formula, announced today to replace that originally published in July, now includes a minimum amount for each pupil, on average £3,500 in primary schools and £4,800 in secondaries.

    For East Sussex the Department for Education says those numbers are likely to be £3,723 and £4,941 per pupil.

    In West Sussex it's £3,677 and £4,756 a head.

    The Department for Education says the figures for Kent will be £3,724 and £4,781 per pupil.

    In the South East's two unitary authorities, Brighton and Hove will receive £3,858 and £5,026 for each primary and secondary child respectively, while Medway will receive £3,807 and £5,019 a head.

    The mother of a five-month old baby who died because she needed a heart transplant is calling for the organ donation law to be changed.

    Almost two million people are on the register but their family's consent is still needed before a donation.

    In the last 10 years 330 people have died while waiting for a transplant in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

    Two people have been arrested after collection tins raising money for life-saving treatment for a teenager who has a rare form of cancer were stolen.

    Kelly Turner, 17, from Dover, was diagnosed with desmoplastic small round cell tumour in 2015.

    Hundreds of thousands of pounds have so far been raised in support of her family's appeal for £1m to pay for specialist treatment in the US.

    Two men, aged 25 and 33, have been arrested, Kent Police said.

    The 25-year-old man from Dover has been charged with theft and is due to appear before Medway magistrates later.

    The 33-year-old remains in police custody.

    Money donated for a Dover teenager's life-saving treatment has been stolen from a number of food outlets in the town.

    Kelly Turner's family need to raise £1m for cancer surgery only available in the United States.

    Collection boxes were stolen from the Dovorian Restaurant and a baker's, with the thefts caught on CCTV.

    Last July CCTV cameras captured footage of two people stealing another of Kelly's boxes from a shop in the town.

    Brigadier John Ridge is currently out in the Caribbean commanding more than 1,200 troops to help secure some of the islands in the region.

    Two men killed when a car struck a group of pedestrians walking in East Sussex have been named by police.

    James Morden, 31, of Hilbert Road in Tunbridge Wells and Matthew Lind, 31 of Broadway Court, Wimbledon, were killed at about 20:00 BST on Sunday.

    A Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 struck the group as they were walking along Harvey's Lane in Ringmer.

    Two women, a 29-year-old from Wimbledon and a 27-year-old from Addlestone, Surrey, were injured. Read more here.
