    A Lancashire woman who was told she could no longer live in the UK has now been told she can can remain in the country.

    Winnie Birkenhead from Burnley has lived in the town since 1967 after arriving on her mother's passport from Malaysia. 

    Last year, her employers received a letter from the Home Office saying her permission to be in the UK had expired.

    World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury says he is "here to stay" after earlier suggesting he had retired from boxing.

    The Morecambe-based fighter, who withdrew from his 29 October rematch with Wladimir Klitschko because of reported mental health issues, had tweeted: "I'm the greatest, and I'm also retired."

    But three hours later, Fury, 28, was back on social media to suggest his earlier claim had been a joke.

    "Hahahaha, you think you will get rid of the Gypsy King that easy?" he said.

    A police officer has been injured in a motorway crash chasing a suspected  hit-and-run driver.

    He had been following a silver Vauxhall Vectra suspected of being in an earlier collision with a Bentley on Alfred Street, Blackpool, at 16:50 BST.

    The officer hit the central reservation and overturned as he tried to get the Vectra to stop on the M61 southbound near Bolton, Lancashire Police said.

    His injuries are not thought to life-threatening, the force said.
