    Quote Message

We believe that the things we are striking about will have a much longer impact, negative impact on those children and those parents and we've actually had a lot of parental support. I had an email this morning from a parent, and in it she said, your working conditions are our children's learning conditions."

  6. Rubbish at putting your bin out? There's a app for that...published at 11:14 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

It's something we're all guilty of, forgetting to put your bin out and the ensuing build up of paper, bottles and sacks of rubbish in your garage.

But help is at hand for the more forgetful among us, a new app to remind you when to put your bin out has been launched by Leeds city council today.

    Bins

The app is just at a pilot, but they're asking for help in testing it.

On it, you can check your bin day, set a reminder and see where your nearest recycling site is. The trial will run for six weeks and you can download it for Apple or Android devices.

    Quote Message

We don’t usually describe bin collections as exciting, but this development really does have exciting prospects for how we work, educate and engage with people so they can help us to help them achieve the city’s recycling targets.”

When you see what's getting handed out to foreigners, and our own pensioners having to scrimp and scrape and be cold in winter, it gets your back up. I've worked all my life and paid taxes and I don't mind doing that, as long as my grandchildren are going to benefit."
