    Double Paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft from Halifax says it'd be devastating if athletes had to perform in front of near-empty stadiums at the Rio Games. 

    Ticket sales for the event, which starts on Wednesday, have been running low. 

    There've also been major budget cuts to venues, transport and the workforce. Hannah says compared to the London Games four years ago, there's a lack of interest out in Brazil.

  3. Marking 175 years of Leeds Minsterpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 2 September 2016

    Celebrations are taking place to mark 175 years since the opening of Leeds Minster.

    It was known as Leeds Parish Church until four years ago and was built in the 1800s using almost £30,000 worth of voluntary donations. 

    Services, events and a floral exhibition are being held to mark the anniversary.

    Two teenage girls have gone missing from Huddersfield and West Yorkshire Police urgently want to try to find them.

    Shamara Guy and Victoria Barker, both 14, were reported missing at about 16:30 yesterday. 

    Shamara was last seen wearing black leggings and a grey poncho jacket. 

    Victoria was last seen wearing black leggings and a grey zip-up jacket.

  7. Event to celebrate the memory of Jo Cox this weekendpublished at 09:21 British Summer Time 2 September 2016

    It's hoped thousands of people will come together over the next few days in memory of West Yorkshire MP Jo Cox, who was shot and stabbed to death in Birstall near Leeds in June.

    This Saturday and Sunday are being called More in Common weekend - that phrase is borrowed from Jo Cox's maiden speech in Parliament, in which she said there's more that brings us together, than divides us.

    More than 2,000 people are expected at a family fun day in Batley - there also events in Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and across the country.

    After the Leeds Festival, the sea of abandoned tents and other camping equipment was quite astonishing. There were literally fields of discarded tents.

    Disabled people in Bradford are fighting a petition to lift a ban on advertising A-boards.

    A Bradford council meeting took place last night because businesses from parts of the city claim the ban affects their trade. 

    But disabled groups argue the ban should remain in place, as the boards cause problems for people who are blind or use a wheelchair.
