  11. Watch: Halifax skeletons give up their secretspublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 6 October 2016

    Nick Wilmshurst
    BBC Local Live, Leeds

I love stuff like this: archaeologists in Halifax have found 217 skeletons which have given up the secrets of life in the town 200 years ago.

    Skeleton

The collection of bones was uncovered from the Square Chapel graveyard as part of the Piece Hall transformation project.

    Graves

Sadly, the analysis shows that many of the children died in their early childhood, and it also shows the people had a sweet tooth as a large number suffered from tooth decay!

People who may have been in contact with the diagnosed patient have been advised to seek help from their GP if they experience any symptoms - including intense itching that's worse at night.

It also causes a skin rash on areas where the scabies mites are active.

Symptoms may take up to six weeks to develop so people can be affected for a long period before they are aware they have the condition.
