    A fabulous achievement for the team's unceasing promotion of unsigned and under-the-radar musicians from West Yorkshire.

    Many of those musicians and bands have gone on to appear on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, BBC 1Xtra, Glastonbury, T in the Park, Leeds/Reading and The Montreal Jazz Festivals.

  2. Attack on woman in Rodley sparks police appealpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    Police in Leeds are appealing for help after a woman fought off an attack by a man near the Leeds-Liverpool Canal at Rodley at the weekend, external.

    The 40-year-old woman was walking down the steps towards the canal close to Leeds Outer Ring Road at about 08:20 on Saturday when she was grabbed and dragged to the ground.

    She struggled with her attacker, who's described as black, in his late teens, about 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build, and eventually fought him off. The victim wasn't hurt in the incident.

    The woman's attacker was wearing a khaki green or grey jacket which had the hood pulled up and grey jogging bottoms.

    Anyone with information about the attack is being asked to get in touch with police.

    Bradford City winger Mark Marshall says the Bantams won't be getting carried away after their unbeaten start to the season. 

    They sit in second place in League One after the first 12 games. 

    But Marshall has told BBC West Yorkshire Sport he isn't getting complacent.

  4. Barnbow munitions factory site in Leeds given heritage statuspublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    In 1916, an explosion in a Leeds munitions factory caused what is claimed to be one of the UK's single largest loss of female life in World War One.

    Yet wartime conditions meant the deaths of 35 women at Barnbow in Leeds were barely reported.

    A century on, and the story of the devastation and consequences of the blast at Barnbow is being preserved.

    Historic England recommended the site be protected to recognise the role of women in the conflict.  

    It has now been protected as a scheduled monument by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

    Surely everyone should now admit defeat...Bradford undoubtedly has the best curry!

    The city has been crowned "curry capital" of Britain for a record breaking sixth year in a row.

    The council's Visit Bradford, external team bagged the accolade, seeing off competition from Manchester, London...and Leeds. 

    Part of the campaign - which is aimed at bringing communities together through food - involved a Curry Capital Olympics and a garden party celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday.

  7. Proposed Huddersfield A&E changes are 'rubbish' - MPpublished at 10:26 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    Campaigners in Huddersfield fighting to keep casualty services in the town are heading to Westminster this morning. 

    They're due to hand a petition containing tens of thousands of signatures into 10 Downing Street. 

    Under the proposals, the current Huddersfield Royal Infirmary would close to be replaced by a smaller hospital, which would have no casualty unit. That service would be taken care of in Halifax instead.

    Halifax MP Holly Lynch is one of two MPs to have resigned from the shadow whips' office, just days after party leader Jeremy Corbyn reshuffled his front bench.

    Mr Corbyn's decision to replace chief whip Dame Rosie Winterton with Nick Brown was met with some surprise last week.

    Halifax MP Holly Lynch and St Helens North MP Conor McGinn have both resigned, it's been confirmed.

    Ms Lynch tweeted, external it was "time to focus" on her marginal constituency. 

    She added her best wishes to Dame Rosie's replacement, Nick Brown, adding: "It has been a pleasure to serve with @labourwhips but with one of the most marginal seats, it's time to focus all my efforts on Halifax."

    This morning I'm travelling to London with campaigners who've been trying to halt plans to move Huddersfield Royal Infirmary's Accident and Emergency Department to Halifax and replace the town's existing Royal Infirmary.

    Members of Hands Off HRI are going to Downing Street to hand in a petition signed by thousands of people who are also against the plans and want hospital health care in their town left as it is.
